carverofchoice:
I am just pointing out that the AI can’t answer everything and is missing a lot of answers that can be found in here. I completely understand why they wouldn’t use the forum as a data source, and my point is that because of that I don’t think an official company-sanctioned AI can realistically replace all the good information and help that can be obtained from the forum because it’s not able to safely use it as a company approved source. So there will always be more information here in that sense.
Found a good example of what I was saying as demonstrated in this thread:
I setup a v4 camera a few weeks ago and had alerts for vehicle motion disabled (notify unchecked), since we have a lot of traffic and I don’t want to exclude the road and our mailbox. I upgraded to Cam Plus the other day and had to go back in and reset up my alerts, including unchecking notify for vehicle motion alerts. However, now I’m getting these “Complete Motion Detected” every time a car drives down the road. I don’t see an “other” option under Smart Motion. How do I turn off this new …
Summary, User switched to “Smart Detections” but was still getting “Motion” Notifications and couldn’t fix it. I copied the user’s post into the AI search bar and it gave a completely wrong response:
The correct answer is this:
I’ve seen this before.
Go back to the event recording settings. Switch from Smart Detections back to All events (this will be temporary).
Now click on Customize Detections
Uncheck the “Notify” checkmark on “Other Motion”
Now go back and set the Event recording back to “Smart Detection Events”
That should solve your problem.
My understanding is that “Smart Detection Events” only tells it to DELETE the videos from the cloud, but for some reason it doesn’t automatically uncheck the “notify of other motion” option like we all think it should do automatically.
Let me know if that fixes it.
Explanation as follows:
That is exactly correct. It hides the motion option because the whole point of Smart detection is to act as if other motion events don’t exist, so there is no point in showing the option, in theory. The problem is that they didn’t take into account that switching to Smart detections will leave the Notification enabled, but no ability to view the event. They didn’t program it right. I reported this in the past, but it seems to have been ignored, so I just explain it to people when it inevitably comes up like this. Good thing I scan nearly every thread, eh?
Human Forum response beats the AI again.
Wyze should add a support article to explain this issue or better yet, resolve it so that smart detection automatically turns off motion notifications like everyone assumes.
@WyzeJasonJ consider passing this feedback example on to Bruce or maybe have Brenda or someone add a support article for this [semi-common] issue?
