Can't open video when downloaded

I got a great video of a bear in our backyard, but can’t share it or download it. It was taken with the wyze cam pan .v3. When I share to dropbox, or mail it, it says, “unsupported file type” and a triangle with a line through it… I tried saving it to my device (iPhone) but it won’t open there either. How can I save it so I can share it?

Have you tried using a different media player to play the video? I use VLC to play all my Wyze stuff.

so you mean download VLC onto my phone?

I am an android person, so i don’t know the best players for iPhone. If they don’t have it for iphone, then i would already try a different media player than the one your trying. I use it on my windows laptop also to play videos.

Which iOS version are you using? I have iOS 17.7 and have download a few videos in the last day or two without any issues. Did you give the WYZE app permission to access limited photos / videos to the photo gallery?

Thanks Antonius, I tried what you said, and do have vs. IOS 17.7 on my phone. I did give WYZE permission to access limited photos/videos, and even tried full access, but it still didn’t download in the right format. My husband was able to download the video onto his iPad and emailed it to me, so I was able to open it. I still don’t know why my iPad or iPhone weren’t able to download it to a format that could be opened.

All the video files I have ever downloaded from WYZE have been H. 264 video .MP4 files. I am using an iPhone SE2020 and a 4th generation iPad Pro 12.9 inch.
I think all Apple devices can play.mp4 files and many other formats.

I don’t know if your original issue was ever resolved, but I was answering another community member’s questions about Dropbox and saw that you mentioned it in your original post:

I created a new topic in Tips & Tricks which will hopefully be helpful to others, and it might help you if you want to share your bear video (or others) from Dropbox. Here’s the gist:

That doesn’t help with your entire initial issue, but if you were successfully able to upload your video to Dropbox, then that might help you share it in the future, maybe to Captured on Wyze! :slightly_smiling_face:
