That sounds like a potentially fun project if I had a tone and probe. The stuff I’ve had to do with my own doorbell situations has been solvable with a basic multimeter and some test leads, and I haven’t had to try to pull or fish any new wire for that.
I don’t see any reason why that wouldn’t work. I’ve gotten a few months of battery life out of non-wired Battery Video Doorbell and just remove it and bring it inside to recharge whenever a week or so has passed after a firmware update. (I wait to see if there are problems reported with a production firmware release and then use update time as an opportunity to do a full battery recharge.) It unclips from its mount with a “Doorbell Detaching Pin”, pretty much like Duo Cam Doorbell does.
Must be why I got the demotion. 
If my contributions could be measured, then…I don’t know what. Maybe I’d have to ask a data guy like @carverofchoice.
