I noticed the issue from 2018? Its 2020 and my wyze sd card lasted 9 days, v2 cam and card 9 days old, Tried all suggestion, still dont read sd card. Now I know NOT to buy more products. I would think this issue should be solved, but I believe making more products that fail is more important? Very disappointed, 9 DAYS really?
@vrnevets Welcome to the Wyze community! If you haven’t gotten in touch with Wyze Customer Support, I recommend giving them a call. If you have purchased a defective card they will replace it, and also help resolve any issues you are having.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, I never said I had a defective memory card. I am corresponding with “Jerrold” at WYZE Customer Support about another issue.

Ok sorry, my mistake. Lol
The system worked great for 9 days, I should not need to contact any one after 9 days, this was 30$, I’ll just move on. And not waste more $ on wyze products. Thank you for the advice, but 9 days, Maybe if it lasted 1month? I’m so glad I tried this product, I was looking at the door locks, lol. Thank you again i just don’t want to spend more time fixing what should have lasted months or a year.
No problem, I understand. If you change your mind Wyze will be glad to assist you.
I don’t know what you’re talking about
Hi Paul, If you will look at the right corner of my post, I was replying to “vrnevts” and not you. But no worry, I have replied to the wrong posts a few times myself.
Glad you are in touch with Wyze Customer Support and hope they resolve the issues you’re having.
Thanks for the tip - this worked for me also.
I found that if you have an existing Wyze cam with a working SD card, simply put your new SD card in the old cam and it should recognize it. Format it from the app and then put it back in the new cam.
Worked for me for my ADATA SD Card which wasn’t getting recognized by my Wyze Outdoor cam.
I received my new outdoor cam a couple of days ago along with the hub. I tried five different SD cards in the camera none were recognized. Tried them in the hub all of them were recognized in the hub. Oh well same as with my other two cameras
Format the SD card in the base/cam, where they are recognized and then put it in the outdoor cam. Worked for me.
I’m having this same problem.
- MicroSD card isn’t detected in the WCO or Base Station.
- I formatted it in my laptop, tried again, still nothing.
- I put the SD card in a V2 and it worked fine. I had the V2 Format the card again anyway, working great.
- I tried the WCO again, and it still isn’t detected.
This is certainly frustrating. It will work in other Wyze Cams, but not in the WCO or Base? Why would they make their newer products worse? Maybe I just got a dud that can only use the Cloud?
UPDATE: The cam began to switch back and forth between recognizing it and then switching back to not detected, then a while later it detected it again, then switched back to not detected. I then told it to reformat the card again in this camera (in case that was part of the issue). It still switched on and off detection a few times, but it appears to be recording to the SD card even if the status keeps switching between detected and not detected. I guess I’ll update again & maybe do a support ticket if problems continue, but it seems like it may just take a really long time to detect it sometimes and then it appears to work even if the status switches repeatedly.
The SD card may work trying all the options? But Wyze can’t make $ on the SD card working, so I just did what the SD card is designed for, pay the 2$ a cam per month for cloud service. Still cheaper then ALL the other similar systems out there. So far so good, WOW, I’m shocked. Can’t wait to see the next frustrating hassle, that’s solved with the more money option?
You make a valid insight, but there are some things the camera will only do with an SD card, and not cloud (travel mode, time lapse, etc).
Also, I am extremely against subscriptions on principle. I avoid them 99% of the time unless there are no decent similar alternatives or else the value I get out of it is over the top phenomenal somehow…which this isn’t…not to say I don’t like it (I will probably buy 1 or 2 more), but I won’t pay a subscription for it…if that becomes necessary I will auction off the stuff to someone else and buy alternatives.
Format in a computer and then place in WOC. I had trouble with both the WOC and base recognizing a 128GB SD card and formatting on another device and then placing it back in the WOC worked perfectly.
Thanks @tylerwise - https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ worked for me as well.
Followed the same steps and it worked. Thanks.
I had this issue today with a new, off brand, 32GB micro SD card in my new V2 cam. I downloaded the Mac version of the utility at SD Memory Card Formatter | SD Association and formatted the card. After that it worked as expected.
This helped me as well, thank you! The sandisk website took me to the “sdcard.org” website. Here is a link to the formatter I used. I first tried using the “disk utility” application that comes standard on MacBooks, but that didn’t work. I used the full “overwrite format” that took about a half-hour to complete on a 32GB sd card. Plugged it in to my new wyzecam V3 and it recognized it immediately.
Thanks again!
