Camera skips during playback

I went back 20 minutes on my V2 that overlooks our carport (has SD card) to view my wifes discovery of a good sized garter snake (yellow strip on back)… Then when I got to the point in the video where she discovered the snake, the recording skipped ahead about 10 seconds and I missed the event… Question is: WHY

This happens a lot on my recorded video as well. Random jumps and skips. I have never gotten a clear answer. Support variously has said its network, or internet, or contention from too many things at once like live view, an Event clip being made at the same time, SD card issues etc.

If you do figure it out please share your solution. This issue more than anything else is making me reevaluate my use of Wyze cameras. Everything else can screw up but if I can’t count on local recording to SD card then they really are not very useful or useable.

That is so true… Often times what you need to see is only a few seconds in duration… Not an ideal time for the recording to skip… Reading thru the posts I get the feeling that maybe Wyze is not quite ready for the inherant responsibility of offering up ‘Complete motion capture’ yet… Maybe it should be ‘Nearly Complete motion capture’. I don’t know what the reason is, but if it is server related, money can cure it… If it’s software related, perhaps a dedicated team could cure it… Either way, it all or nothing in my view.

Was the skip ahead on a CMC recording or on the SD card playback? In SD card continuous recording I sometimes see myself, and on videos here a slight skip at the top of the minute when the camera is I am guessing saving one minute video and going to the next. Was your skip at :00? I reset my cameras every night and that seems to lessen the impact alot.

Yes that appears to apply. I will pay more attention if it’s the top of the hour/minute. Last week I was trying to review some footage around a flower vase that got broken, think it was the youngest cat. Found that footage ok but while scrubbing through I found several times where the video skipped.

No actually it was about 2 minutes or more into the clip

To me and likely many others, the skipping is just NOT acceptable

It certainly makes the cameras much less useful. I know they are not security devices but if basic advertised functions don’t work correctly it opens a whole can of worms.

I had the same issue. I moved my router so it was more evenly centered to all devices and it hasn’t happened for over a month.

I have a camera 4 feet from my router and it happens to that one as well. No better but no worse. None of my cameras are over 25 feet from the router. Most are significantly less. It’s a small 2 bedroom condo, one floor.

I think that the company needs to SHOW customers that they actually do care and are working to solve current problems rather than push new products all the time… Just my opinion of course

I know that several operations can be executed on the camera at the same time, that said, IMHO, the recording of video should be the #1 priority, not a first come first served basis.

I had a large percentage of medication leave my master bath during Thanksgiving. I have SD cards in all my cameras and went to look at the footage for the master bedroom (yes I have a camera in the bedroom. My wife has Alzheimer’s and I need to see what she’s doing and listen for her call for help) and it skipped so much I couldn’t see who got the medication. Just another reason why this company needs to put RTSP on the highest list! They seem to be concentrating on bringing out more products than getting the camera to work properly. I need more. But won’t be buying anything else until this is fixed.

Sad, but you are not alone in the battle to get Wyze on the ball again.

Same issue here very frustrating

I would imagine if we hammer them enough about it they will hopefully do something

Based on previous replies and threads on this topic I believe they have “fixed” this issue numerous times. For whatever reason it is not staying fixed. I have had my cams well over a year and the problem has been pretty consistent.

For what it is worth support has really gone downhill. Quite often they don’t actually listen and just read from a script (I get the word for word same response across several calls/issues). Promised follow up does not happen. Return calls or emails never appear. Honestly they are exhibiting all the classic signs of an overwhelmingly busy support group.

If I complain here eventually attention gets drawn but it’s honestly not worth the effort any more.

Wyze has done a good thing by bringing a reasonable quality camera with excellent features to market for a great price, they really have. Unfortunately that is now suffering from execution failures.

The scale I like, works well for me. The cameras are still okay, problems with skips and dropped frames in both event videos and SD card videos. CMC did not deliver as promised, many many videos stopped with movement still happening. Connectivity issues wax and wane with each app version. The sense system motion and contact sensors are subject to connectivity issues I suspect due to the bridge.

I am slowly replacing the Wyze sense sensors with Eve and Onvis sensors. So far those sensors have been rock solid and no bridge needed. I think a stand-alone bridge would help the Wyze ones, I hear one may be coming.

The Band is too new to really say much about. I personally have not had a lot of the issues others are reporting. I prefer my Apple Watch but in terms of bang for the buck I think the Band is a great value.

I will watch what’s happening but am gradually replacing Wyze stuff with other more reliable brands. Partially due to Wyze’s disruption of the market the replacements are at much lower price than they used to be. :grinning:

I just got my cameras set up yesterday and noticed this among many other issues. I wonder if it has to do with the motion detection box.

I have a nest camera, two Samsung cameras and a blink camera and they don’t suffer from this problem
