App 3.0 - Not so good!

Not a fan of 3.0.

How do I revert to the previous version?

Can you share what you don’t like about it?

You can setup your favorite screen as you want, and the the device section you can move devices around so they are in the order you would like them to be.

Functionality is very similar to what the other app shows.

As for rolling back, as far as I know you cannot roll back to the previous app on iOS. I have both Android and iOS and am more familiar with Android. So I am sure if there is a way in iOS, others may speak up.

I don’t like that my settings in the ā€˜old’ app did not transition to 3.0. I have 16 cameras not to mention a multitude of bulbs, sensors, etc., all of which appeared out of order; in disarray. I do not have a ton of time, nor patience to set it all up again.

I don’t like how cameras are fired up automatically when they come into view. The outdoor pro cameras tap the battery power without my input which will eventually require premature charging. These were the first two glaring issues that jumped out at me and I didn’t need to see anything else to know this app was not ready for prime time and NOT something I wanted to employ.

Just my opinion, but this is yet another case when a software upgrade is released without being thoroughly tested. Certainly, an option to return to a previous version should have been built into this alleged improvement.

I was a beta tester long ago but had to delete that app because of conflicts it caused. Not going back there.

I just want my old app back. Quickly!

Agree completely with cgclark, it seems like the cameras aren’t disconnecting when moving to another camera which is causing none of my cameras to be usable, they are timing out and the lag I am getting is insane. Not a single issue with the last app, tons of delay issues, connectivity issues, and resolution issues since changing to 3.0

Not saying there is not room for improvement, there has been a lot of feedback on this, including mine.

But to speak of the Battery Cam Pro’s, those will not start automatically if you toggle on the Power Saver Mode in Settings, Advanced settings. When this has been toggled, the camera Live Stream will require you to press the Play icon to start streaming.

I agree about the ordering of the devices on the Device Tab. However, the ability to sort has not been added yet, as you know. You do have the ability to search, but that does not help when you put cameras or devices in similar locations within your list. With that said, the reordering of the devices took minimal effort on my part. I have over 100 devices which I rearranged. But after it was done, I have not had to touch it again.

I will say that the App was tested and there was a lot of feedback. Was everything taken care of prior to release, no, but updates will be provided to alleviate some of these concerns.

I am not an avid iOS user, but if there is a method to roll the app back, they may speak up here.

Can you provide some more information on this? I have multiple cameras on my Favorites Page and even cameras in Camera groups. All will stream without issue and if I were to live stream a camera and go back to the main page, the stream does stop for the camera. Also, as you move away from a camera, the stream does not persist, but instead you will see it connecting again when you return.

Can you also provide the Model of the Cameras you are seeing this on as well as the Firmware version of the camera(s). Have you contacted Wyze and opened a ticket?

So, foremost, I work in application development so I know there’s always room for improvement and overall I like the app design and function, the learning curve is there but it’s absolutely minimal. What I’m seeing on my 2 Cam Pan v3 are that it’s taking excessive time to A. Connect to device, B. When using the live view function from the favorites page it seems to jump between which camera is getting the live view at the time. So camera A shows live and is showing footage, Camera B is still attempting to load. When Camera B loads, Camera A then falls into a loading loop of sorts.

Same effect when I am switching from looking and controlling one camera to another.

This issue started last night immediately after the app update was installed. I have rebooted my cameras, phone, and even had to reformat and reinstall my SD card’s on the cameras since they were not detecting also. The issue seems to be a pinch better today, but is still at a very laggy point in things.

Outside of that issue, everything else with the app seems to be functioning properly, and with no change of hardware or network, I’m forced somewhat to feel like maybe the app isn’t releasing bandwidth from one camera vs the other perhaps. It’s perplexing.

I wanted to give it some time before directly opening a ticket to see if I can give anything better to the team other than I got the app this no worky, since that’s not truly of benefit without a majority issue. cameras are both Wyze Cam Pan v3 running on firmware 4.50.4.9222.

Apologies for connecting both post responses in this one message.

Thanks. I am also in IT and manage the development shop. glad to see a fellow developer.

I agree about the learning curve and other aspects as described.

I have a cam pan v3 as well. Will attach to the favorites page and see what I experience. Will let you know what I see.

I promise you everyone at Wyze is watching these discussions closely and are taking notes.

Again, just give me a way to get back to the previous version. Upgrading to 3.0 was a huge mistake!

Huge mistake to upgrade.

Wyze needs to keep the old app available tor people to revert back to until the issues with APP 3.0 are fixed.

The new home screen brings up a live stream of every camera which takes a long time to start up and uses a lot of bandwidth. If I could just have it bring up a snapshot of each camera that would be much better.

Maybe it’s a good thing I cannot find it in the Playstore to download it, yet.

May hold off for :deciduous_tree:. 1.

Why can’t things just be left alone? The prior app version was working pretty well. I was comfortable with it. Knew where everything was.

I’m not opposed to change but so many times when they rush to push out something bigger and better and hype its prerelease, red flags should go up. I know better and should never have touched that upgrade button.

All these software releases should come with a safety parachute built in so a user can revert back to pre upgrade status. This option should be a standard feature.

3.0 is hardly an upgrade. Big disappointment.

-I wish the favorite cameras didn’t try to auto play live. This has never worked well for me (like when in groups). It’s rare that they actually load.

-the devices tab no longer shows screenshots for the cameras or a visual cue/button for which ones are on or off. It’s all text based which now takes longer for me to find the camera I’m looking for.

-all of the devices in groups are now ALSO individually listed at the bottom of the device list unnecessarily.

-my shortcuts are no longer always displayed at the top, I have to add them to my favorite list somewhere.

My biggest complaint is the devices tab not using screenshots to easily find cameras. I also don’t want to use the favorites tab at all, so now I need to click over to devices every time. Honestly I feel the layout of the old app flowed and looked great. 3.0 to me feels like a fix in search of a problem.

Some pages in the app work in both horizontal mode and vertical mode. The ones that don’t work in horizontal mode are annoying for me since I use an iPad in horizontal mode most of the time. Having to flip the iPad orientation irks me. Probably considered a minor issue.

I haven’t got the update yet and I don’t want it based on what I’ve read so far.

The main reason by far is that my setup is 7 cameras monitoring a remote building that works off of extremely limited and capped bandwidth (basically a 4g cellular ā€œhotspotā€). This works perfectly in the current app. The absolute LAST THING I NEED OR WANT is for ALL 7 connected cameras to try come online at the same time and:

A) compete for the limited 4G network speed.
B) in doing so consume my limited monthly data allowance.

Whether or not to livestream all cameras at once should be an option.

(I also share access to these cameras. So consider what may happen in the event of a notification where both users open the app to check out what’s going on. That would be 7 streams x 2 (or more) users hitting the limited network at the same time. I doubt that would end well…)

Secondly, I like the size of the current thumbnails on the homescreen of my app. It shows all my cameras in a neat, customizable list with minimal scrolling. I absolutely wouldn’t like this app to take the direction of many others and end up with giant list items and having to scroll, scroll, scroll…

I’m not averse to change, but PLEASE don’t break functionality/efficiency/ease of use in the process of ā€œupgradeā€ for the sake of aesthetics…

Great idea to see it before deciding.

I was pleasantly surprised how well my 8 cams work.

…Nah. If I download it and it doesnt work out, there’s no going back. I’ve just blocked auto-update for ā€œWyzeā€ and will monitor comments here etc. to see if there’s been any change to this forced ā€œall cam streamingā€.

I also see that others here are saying you now have to go into each camera individually to turn it off/on, instead of being able to do so in the list view. In my case when I get to the property where my cameras are I can quickly turn them all off to stop them ā€œtrippingā€ when I enter. I really dont want to have to go in and out of each of the 7 camera feeds just to turn them in and off…
