All New Cam Unlimited Pro - Released 1/14/2025

You’re posting lots of good feedback.
Many of them are even things which I have also mentioned to Wyze, but it is helpful to see them from non-volunteers like you so we can show them the public noticed the same things and had the same thoughts.

SUBSCRIBER REVIEW:

For everyone that wants to push back on the $200 tier. This is a fair criticism but I wanted to push back a little bit on this and share my experience. I have been a subscriber since 2017 so I have it all. Here’s what you are paying for:

  • Descriptive Alerts - see below
  • 60 Days of Events - I don’t need it but whatever, it’s there.
  • and future Home Monitoring?

Right now, the value add is debatable. BUT, The Descriptive Alerts are REALLY REALLY good. I’ve only been watching it log events for a day and I’m pretty blown away at what it describes. It is VERY descriptive. This detection engine is A+. I can’t wait until you can trigger off these events! i.e. cat on bed, sent alert. Silver Subaru - Send Alert!

Home Monitoring needs to be in this tier. I need to be able to control the dings on the Home Monitoring hub at this tier. And a FAMILY connection of shared services for this. Right now, it’s an island for 1 person to control and even look at.

But those Descriptive Alerts are something else, let me tell you. VERY IMPRESSED by them. Blown away Frankly.

Sounds like they could use a light version of this to actually fix the alerts on Cam Unlimited Plus.

If I’m a betting man, which I’m not… the descriptive alerts will trickle down as A.I. costs get cheaper. The extra cost will be more cloud storage, Home Monitoring, and a drone (or something).

Thanks for your review Earl. :+1:

Honestly, I would almost certainly upgrade to this permanently if they made a few modifications (I still might, but I’m leaning toward no for now):

  1. Make it compatible with HMS even if HMS isn’t included within the cost.
  2. Don’t cancel CPLite and make it impossible to ever get back. Even though I haven’t used CPLite in years and probably would keep CUPro indefinitely, there is something at the back of my mind that just hates the idea of the way this plays out and holds me back.
  3. Fix the Descriptive Notifications to respect the AI filters (only alert when there is a person, not any motion).

Other than those 3 things I think this service is really cool.

Now THAT would be amazing! That alone could possibly overcome my hesitancy too. That would be so incredible!

Another would be if they included a Home Assistant integration, especially if the integration received all the descriptive notifications so I could parse them myself with my own custom triggers based on that. I’d pay for it then too (even if they didn’t resolve the other 3 concerns I mentioned)!

Yeah, for sure. That’s one of the things I mentioned when they opened the AI Video Search pilot back in August.

I’m finding my Battery Cam Pro’s are not giving Descriptive Alerts. I brought one in the house, Reset Services, Restarted the Camera, and pulled the battery. No luck. It’s detecting a person but no cool A.I.

Probably a bug they haven’t stumbled on yet. I don’t see anyone from the Wyze Staff here to help us out on our concerns or bugs so I suppose we are on our own. I get first pick at cod-pieces for the Thunderdome-esque world that is sure to appear.

I can say that I am getting Descriptive Alerts on a V2 that is about 7 years old. V3’s, V3 Pro’s, V3 Pan’s, and V4’s. All of those are working great. I had to power cycle a couple of the V3’s to get them to pick up the service. I also think I had to click Reset Service on several cameras but I’m not sure how many. I click a lot of buttons… it was a whirlwind of things.

Just need to get the BCP’s going and then that would confirm many of the cameras are using this technology. Sorry no OG’s or Pan V1. My Pan V1 just died. And No Floodlights for me either. Although I would get one if I thought I had the need.

Yeah, Jason previously mentioned that he expected he’d be getting some help in January and that we could get more interaction again like in years past, but I haven’t heard anything more about that yet. Maybe they will hire the help in January and then it might take some time to train them in everything? So maybe we won’t notice much difference for some months first.

Does this new service correct all of the errors of Cam Plus unlimited? I had Cam Plus unlimited but had to disable all of the notifications due to non stop false detections at all hours, day and night. Examples are gunshot and or glass breaking notifications from leaves rustling, person alerts from leaves moving in the wind or spiders, shadows. I cancelled the service because of this and the fact that I had to disable all of the so called AI detections rendering the service useless. So does this new service correct these issues?

Not sure if it does, however the Cam Plus Unlimited notifications will drive you nuts if you leave everything at default settings. You have to dial them in by modifying detection settings and zones. Took me a while to adjust my seven cameras and now I almost never get false notifications.

I see the HMS feature is removed with Cam Unlimited Pro but on the feature comparison page it mentions “Emergency Dispatch” is “Coming Soon”.

It would be super helpful to know an estimated timeline and if that means that Noonlight or some other HMS company will make is so.
I have regular Cam Unlimited and Home Monitoring subscriptions currently and am not interested in dropping security including door sensors and water leaks for descriptive notifications that could be missed.

The Emergency dispatch that is coming soon is talking about using it through the cameras, not any sensors. So in a way this is basically “Cam Protect Unlimited” with some new cool features (Descriptive Notifications, AI event search, 60 day cloud storage).

You will still be able to notifications for sensors or water leaks, but you will lose access to have them make a siren alarm on the hub, though you can make automation rules to have a leak sensor trigger a camera siren instead as well as a phone notification.

Can the new feature tell the difference between pets and wildlife?

E.g. racoon vs cat

Yes… I see this: it’s not perfect all the time but it’s pretty good. I like the premium A.I. Detection a lot. It’s pretty cool. Has some bugs I’m finding. But that’s for it’s own post.

The loud af cat is named Jasper. He meows. often.

P.S. Anybody want a free cat? I will Next Day Air him to you.

One other thing I liked in testing, as your screenshots show, is the use of relevant emoji in the notification titles. I think that’s a clever touch that provides instant information about the notification’s contents even before reading.

Although I don’t recall seeing anything specific about volume, based on your description of Jasper’s behavior, I’m impressed that the example you shared specified “loudly”.

That’s what I thought too. The A.I. seems to add some “sass” to it’s descriptions. It described my garage as “cluttered”. I audibly gasped in offense to that. “It’s Winter!!! I haven’t gotten to it yet!!! Leave me alone…”. < runs away to write my feelings into my diary >

That is funny.

Google Nest doubled their annual cost for a very basic Nest Aware service and is now charging me $160 for 4 cams for close to nothing other than storage and a subset of my actual events.

So far, Wyze has impressed me with their continuous progress while Google Nest (Aware) has been comparatively close to silent … in Nest app and Google Home app.

Having been involved with use of AI in cams 10+ years ago, this capability that we are getting was costing 100s of $1000 and now the cost is negligible comparatively.

I always appreciate your comparisons about Wyze vs Nest since Nest is one of the companies I don’t know much about related to what they offer and include and charge. Thanks for sharing.
