I feel dense that this is just not making sense, to me.
I have tried to position my outdoor cam to pick up as much activity in my driveway as possible. It’s hard, given the small PIR detection area. A small portion of the camera’s “regular” detection area (non-PIR) includes the street that I live on - it’s about 190 feet from camera to street. In recorded events, sometimes a car going by on the street seems to be the trigger for recording. (I’m fine with that because the detection area that includes the street also includes vehicles coming down my driveway.)
So it will detect and record - outside of the PIR area - vehicles 190 feet away. But it won’t detect my dog and I walking across my driveway, in front of my house, just outside and parallel to the PIR boundary, approximately 25’ from the camera.
Do you have Cam Plus, Cam unlimited, or Unlimited Pro? These are required to determine a person, pet, etc.
The WCO’s have a 5 minute cool down period. If you have Cam Plus, the Cool Down can be reduced and virtually eliminated. Basically, when motion is detected, it will record and then when it stops, it will wait 5 minutes (Cool Down).
You can set the duration of the recordings to capture as much as possible, but that will reduce battery life.
I have Cam Plus, but I don’t care about the recognition of WHAT is causing the motion. I just want an event recorded for the motion.
Even with Cam Plus, I have never been able to get recordings for consecutive motion events. I have the camera set to “No cooldown.”
I have the duration set to max. 5 minutes, but rarely get more than a minute and usually get a cut-off recording even when motion continues.
My question is - I think - not about the Cam Plus feature or the breaks between recordings or the length of the recordings. My question is about the fact that, for example, I was walking my elderly dog back and forth in the driveway this morning, in front of the camera (but outside the PIR area), at 6am, and I got NO recordings today until 11:42am.
