I’ve been wanting to buy the 47c watch for a bit, but it seems like it hasn’t nt been in stock for awhile. Any ideas on when the restock may happen?? Thanks!
Welcome to the Forum, @ttrostle!
Yeah, but you’re not going to like my idea, because it’s “never”.
Again, it’s what I think, because the product page says “Sold out” and “Out of stock” and “Final sale. Not eligible for exchange or return.” In my mind—and also based on other things I’ve read here in the Forum—that says that Wyze has effectively discontinued this product and more of the same aren’t to be expected. I would hope that at some point they’d bring out a newer version with some improvements, because I’m a big fan of the Watch and I think it occupies a unique place because of the way it interacts with the app and allows control of other items within the Wyze ecosystem. I’m not aware of other vendors’ watches that do that.
This year and last, Wyze has been pretty public about their intentions to focus on their original core business, which is the cameras and services to support those, so I’d expect more of the same at least through the end of this year. I really like what they’ve done when they’ve branched out into other gadgets, though, and I sincerely hope they’ll do something with Watch again in the future.
Thanks, I should have bought one when I had the chance. I’ll keep eye out on more news!
You’re welcome, and I want to be clear that I don’t speak for Wyze or have any knowledge about whether or not something like this will be restocked or made available in some other fashion. I’m just sharing my own opinions and observations and trying to be hopeful that we haven’t seen the end of the Watch.
Absolutely, I completely understand. You’ve been more help then what I could quickly research. I do hope they restock or come out with a new one. Until then I’ll just be patient.
@Crease I did end up finding a 47mm watch that was new in an open box on ebay. It’s awesome so far. One thing is that the software won’t update but I assume that’s due to the move away from life style products at the moment. Any thoughts?
That’s cool that you were able to find one that’s working for you!
If you’re talking about firmware updates, then have you checked the Watch’s firmware against the versions listed on the Release Notes & Firmware page? Are you already at the latest version, or is the app showing you some kind of error if/when you try to update the Watch’s firmware?
Or maybe you’re referring to something else?
The firmware is what I mean. I’m sitting at 12.37 and the update us for 12.49. For some reason every time I go to update it, my app closes and won’t update the firmware. Not sure what exactly is the issue but I’ll look around for some answers on forum. Thanks!
Yeah, given the fixes listed in the Release Notes, I’d also want to get the Watch on the 0.12.49 firmware. It’s mostly pretty stable, though occasionally I still see the spontaneous reboots (one happened yesterday while I was sitting at my desk).
You haven’t mentioned which Wyze app version you’re using, and I wonder if that’s at least part of the issue. My Watch is tied to my main phone, which is still running Wyze app version 2.50.9.512, but my Watch has also been updated to the latest firmware version for several years, so I haven’t tried installing an update (which would be pointless for me now).
In your situation, I think I’d probably submit a log and open a ticket. If you have another mobile device running an older version of the Wyze app, then you could try pairing the Watch to that phone/tablet and attempting the firmware update from there (and then re-pair the Watch to your main device afterward). If the app is closing on you (crashing?), then I’d probably try to do a profile data refresh, too. This is how I would get a clean copy of my account profile/settings on Android:
- Clear the in-app cache: From the Wyze app’s home screen, navigate to
Account ➜ App Settings ➜ Cache File Size ➜ Clear.
- Navigate back one screen to Account and tap Log Out at the bottom.
- Swipe the Wyze app out of the running Android apps.
- Long-press on the Wyze app’s launcher icon (on the phone’s home screen or wherever you tap to initially open the app) and then tap App info in the pop-up menu.
- Tap Force stop on the App info screen (may need to tap OK to confirm) and then tap Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache and Clear storage on the Storage screen.
- Back up one screen (back to App info) and then tap Open and proceed to log back into your Wyze account/app. (Optionally reboot the phone at this step for good measure and then launch the Wyze app after the fresh boot instead of relaunching it immediately from this screen.)
In your case, I’d probably go ahead and reboot the phone in that last step, especially if the Wyze app has been crashing and you haven’t rebooted in a while.
That’s a good plan, too!
@Crease I tried what you recommended. It sadly didn’t work for getting the fireware to update. I have submitted a ticket and a log. I’ll see if this can get cleared up. Thanks again for the info!
You’re welcome! Hopefully Support can give you some ideas or at least pass your problem description along to the developers if the app is quitting on you when you attempt the firmware update. Without seeing what you’re seeing with this thing and confirming your settings (seeing that the app has the necessary permissions and a Bluetooth connection to the Watch, etc.), I’m not sure what else to recommend at this point unless it would be trying an older app version (like potentially grabbing a v2.5x app from APKMirror or something and trying that as a temporary work-around just to see if that would complete a firmware update on the Watch for you).
If I come up with any other ideas to try, I’ll drop them here.
