Wyze Warranty

Where do I start. So I purchased a Wyze cam battery pro from Woot (a subsidiary of Amazon). It was brand new in February of this year. The battery will no longer change. The light flashes eradicatly and won’t charge. I contacted customer service to let them know. I’ve spent way more time on this than I should.

The first person I was talking to had me do all the things they usually have you do, though I had already done them. In fact the camera wouldn’t even turn on because it was so dead. I had let it try to change for 24 hours before I even called. So I did everything again while chatting. The person said they were going to escalate the problem. And someone would be back in touch with me. Of course via email.

The next person contacts me and wants me to do the same things I had already done. I explained to them that I had already done those they said OK however they had me do several the same things again and this time send in a report. So I did.

A3 person contacts me and now wants to talk about the warranty. They give me a list of all the stuff I need to collect in order to file for an either credit or exchange. I gather up all this information and send it across an email, that person tells me that is not covered under warranty because I purchased it from Woot. They tell me the warranty covers things purchased from Amazon Walmart, And several other stores. I explained to them That woot is an Amazon company.

They were generate again that it’s not covered under the warranty. I respond back to them informing them again that Amazon is the owner of Woot. Another person so this will be the fourth come emails me and tell me again that it’s not covered in warranty because it wasn’t purchased from Amazon or Amazon Company.

I’ve explained to them again. This is about the fifth person that Woot is an Amazon company in which they admit that Woot is an Amazon company, but they will not cover the warranty. I’m really confused at company that is owned by Amazon is a seller of Amazon, and a subsidy of Amazon is not Amazon. I don’t understand how it’s not covered in the warranty if the parent company is Amazon which they do cover which they admit they do won’t Cover the faulty equipment.

Can someone please explain to me how a company that is owned by Amazon shows that they are Amazon admit is on Amazon not cover this. It seems like WYZE Is just not wanting to cover their equipment. I would think would WYZE stand behind their equipment better. Just like I would think they would still cover their equipment, no matter who you purchase from Because they stand behind their product, not who you purchase it from.

Can someone make this make sense?

I can make it make sense, but you’re not going to like the answer. Don’t shoot the messenger.

The rep is doing a poor job of explaining it, and not linking you to a source that could help clarify. I will do that.

First, to clarify, it’s not that ALL of AMAZON is approved. It’s “Only the Wyze Store that is listed on Amazon is an approved retailer.” Buying Wyze equipment from some other rando on Amazon (Amazon will often allow others to list the same stuff if they want) doesn’t qualify for the warranty, etc even if it is on Amazon because Wyze can’t guarantee you got it in good condition, or new, or anything like that. They can only guarantee your purchase if you order from the Wyze store on Amazon. That is what they mean. That is why Woot doesn’t count even though it is a subsidiary of Amazon…it is not being sold by Wyze, it is being sold by Amazon/Woot instead of Wyze, and that is not an authorized retailer.

Here is the link to clarify that:

Copy of the List of approved Wyze retailers for those who can't read the screenshot easily

Then on the warranty, it says:

(Products purchased from unauthorized retailers or resellers are not covered by the limited warranty)

So the rep is wrong in telling you that AMAZON is authorized…it’s actually Wyze is authorized, and only the Wyze store on Amazon is authorized. It’s just poor communication and perhaps some misunderstanding/confusion.

In the past, as I recall, Wyze also used to include eBay as an authorized retailer, but ONLY if you ordered from “Wyze Direct” and even then some of those were refurbished and wouldn’t get a full warranty. I think pretty much all of them are now used/refurbished, so they don’t even count their ebay store anymore. I’m uncertain if their official ebay store even upholds the official refurbished warranty. They may not, if they’re just used and not really refurbished. But even back when I believe they did sell some new stuff on their eBay store, they didn’t approve all of eBay because there are also a bunch of randos selling things that they can’t guarantee the status of. That’s pretty much how they see anything on or through Amazon that didn’t come from their store directly.

Sam thing for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc…only their store is authorized, the rest are randos running hussle, which Wyze can’t guarantee. Even Walmart is only approved when from Walmart directly and not their matchmaker site that may be anyone else.

Sorry, I know that’s not the answer anyone wants to hear…I’m just trying to help explain what they DO mean when they say Amazon is authorized but another part of Amazon is not authorized. They mean, the Wyze store on Amazon is the only authorized retailer, and all other purchases through Amazon are not authorized retailers.

Sorry to hear of this frustration. I saw that Woot was selling the cameras brand new too. I’m used to most woot stuff being used or refurb, and I assume that’s why Wyze doesn’t want to approve them in general. It’s hard for them to know or keep track of which sales were new or used, etc when they have no control over any of it…though you’d think they could check and see if the MAC was ever activated before or not and then have someone just prove their purchase with a receipt. Between the 2 things, you’d think they could reasonably be sure when a device was activated/purchased and how much it had been used, and whether you’d really purchased it. IDK. Sorry man, but I hope I helped to at least clarify what they were SUPPOSED to tell you, but didn’t do a good job of communicating.

Don’t shoot the messenger, I was just trying to help say what he wasn’t saying right. Hopefully I at least communicated it better so it’s not as confusing as that loop you were stuck in about Amazon is authorized but Amazon is not authorized. My head would have been spinning too. Hopefully you won’t be as dizzy now, even if the answer isn’t what you wanted to hear…now you have links to the sources.
