Just upgraded our doorbell from the Video Doorbell PRO to the V2.
Let me get this straight…
The V2 has NO WAY to connect to the Pro’s indoor chime box?
And under the option to make a camera the chime, only the OG is supported? WTF even is that? Im supposed to buy a crappy gen 1 camera just to use it as a speaker for my doorbell?
Someone smarter than me or on the Wyze team please tell me this isn’t true. Im at my witts end with this company and all the different versions of everything. All I want to do, is 24/7 recording of our front door. If this is not possible then I’m going to completely remove myself from the Wyze ecosystem.
The video doorbell v2 does not support any external chimes afaik. This is unfortunate, but luckily wyze has been adding support for using cameras as a chime. The OG camera (despite its name) is a newer camera, and is very capable (better than the v3 in almost every way). I thought they recently added support for using the pan v3 as a chime as well, though that may still be in beta.
If you don’t already have a pan v3 then I do recommend getting an OG. They are very cheap and really good cameras.
You also can use Alexa and (maybe) google home to announce when the doorbell is pressed, though I haven’t used that.
I wish the little satellite chimes were compatible but unfortunately they are not and idk if wyze plans to make them. I do expect them to continue adding support to more camera though who knows how long that will take.
That and the ability to use my home’s built-in mechanical chime are what got me to finally upgrade from a standard (non-video) doorbell button. I like the microSD card local storage and other features available without the need for an ongoing subscription.
