Wyze Video Doorbell v2 Still Going Offline on Firmware 4.51.2.4190

I’m looking for help with my Wyze Video Doorbell v2. Even after updating to the latest firmware 4.51.2.4190, it still goes offline every few days and does not reconnect on its own. It’s on a 2.4 GHz network, and signal strength is solid.

The previous firmware improved things slightly, it stayed connected for a few days at a time, but it still needed periodic reboots. I was hoping newer firmware would fully fix the issue, but the problem continues.

Is anyone else still seeing this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m having the same issue. Please let me know if you get a solution

A newer firmware version was released a week after this topic was created:

What effect does that have on connectivity?

Did Wyze have you check the input power? I was having the same issue, until I checked the voltage.

Seems my 30 year old doorbell only used 12 volts. When I updated the transformer to a 16-18 volts the problem went away.

Took me awhile to get to the voltage because my ring doorbell worked flawlessly for years on the old transformer.

That’s a good question, and I appreciate your asking that, because I’ve read other recent topics where below-spec transformers have been mentioned and have likely been part of the problem. :+1:

For reference, Video Doorbell v2 expects a transformer rated for at least 16 V AC and 10 VA:

:high_voltage: An existing wired mechanical doorbell and chime is required to install Wyze Video Doorbell v2. The existing circuit must have a minimum voltage of 16V-24V and power output of 10VA.

My own Video Doorbell v2 developed issues with being able to actuate my home’s mechanical chime at one point, and I considered replacing my 16V 10VA transformer, but then through my own troubleshooting I discovered that the chime had been wired incorrectly with its original doorbell button, long before I ever moved into this house. Once I resolved that, my Video Doorbell v2 issue went away. Because of that experience, I also recommend that people have a clear understanding of how each wire is routed/connected within their system, and I’ve found an inexpensive multimeter to be an invaluable tool for determining this.

After the latest update, so far my doorbell has been good. I track when it goes offline and reconnects it’s own and when it does not and needs a reboot. It has been reconnecting successfully and hasn’t need a reboot. Hope this sticks :crossed_fingers:
