Got a notice for this new doorbell in my email yesterday and thought for a few seconds I might consider getting one of these to replace my Eufy wireless doorbell, which I love but has some flaws. HOWEVER, that excitement quickly dissipated when I saw that the “first ever built-in microSD card slot for local recording” is located on the side of the doorbell, simply covered by the standard rubber slot cover, enabling anyone who has a purpose to simply walk up and remove the microSD card at any time. This is NOT one of the flaws, thankfully, of the Eufy doorbell, which has a wireless chime unit that has the microSD card slot in it. And since that unit resides inside the house, the card is protected. So that makes this new doorbell a no-go out of the box for me. I don’t know who is responsible for the design but you could have at least put the micro SD card slot on the back where you’d have to rip the doorbell off completely or remove it in order to access it.
And after reading here that it appears you’re going to have to purchase a Cam+ subscription to get all of the featured notices, that just makes it worse. I don’t pay any annual fee for my Eufy battery doorbell and can record as much as I want depending on the size of the microSD card I install in it, which is never going to be tampered with by anyone that just walks up to my door.
I just can’t believe you put that micro SD card slot on the side!
