Does this fix the chime that doesn’t work for anyone?
I don’t think this is a firmware issue with the VDBv2 itself, but more of a wiring issue with the Chime Controller and transformer. This has become clear because:
So it does work for lots of people but it seems like the chime controller is just not compatible with certain transformers some people have.
Keep in mind that if you don’t use the chime controller, it probably voids the warranty because then you no longer have surge protection through the chime controller. Also, the Chime controller is required to get digital chimes to work.
The firmware update still won’t work for me after 1 month. I put my router right next to the doorbell and took the SD card out. Every time O try the update, it powers down and I have to do a factory reset by turning the power off at the breaker box.
@carverofchoice thank you as always.
As a reminder when people complain about the Chime it’s not just about the setup and the use of the capacitor. It’s about the lack of backwards compatibility with the Wyze Chime.
Good point! It can be hard to know which issue particular people are talking about when they say "chime not working. " It indeed could be a reference to the fact that the Chime from the VDB v1 and theVDBPro don’t work with it and many people would like it to.
