Ok, I think I have something significant here. I have had monumental problems connecting to the vac (believe I started this thread in January). Much wrangling, scores of tries, Wyze support, no success.
Wyze had me try Routethishelps, which resulted in a report pinging on my cats-and-dogs antiquated wifi equipment (up to 8 years).
Mea culpa. Like everyone else, I tend to not spend money on stuff that seems to be working. But, when I saw that report, I realized many of my problems (more than just Wyze) could be caused by my menagerie of equipment which I pieced together, Frankenstein-style.
So, I went out and got a Ubiquiti Edgerouter-4, and a TP-link AX6000 router (which I use only as an access point). I got this new stuff up and running with minor gnashing of teeth.
I put the Wyze vac right next to the TP-Link access point, put the vac back to factory settings, reset the wifi connection on the vac and …IT CONNECTED ON THE FIRST TRY. Hasn’t disconnected since, after several cleaning cycles.
Overkill? Maybe. But up to date equipment seems to make a BIG difference.
I upgraded our internet back in July. Within the last two weeks the Wyze Robot Vacuum just stops at random places on its map. By stopped I mean the power is off even though there is plenty of charge left. When I look at the app it shows the vacuum is disconnected from the internet. When I power the vacuum it immediately connects but since the cleaning cycle is interrupted it does nothing. Put it back on the charger and try again tomorrow. I thought maybe re-mapping would help and it did for one time when everything worked. My vacuum is over two years old. Even when it works the vacuum needs to recharge before it can complete the entire cycle. That has also just started to happen. Wondering if this is some sort of battery issue and Wyze doesn’t sell a replacement. Luckily I found the battery but waiting to order.
