I went with a 24/40 transformer because I have front and back doorbells. Had installed it to eliminate issues with my vdbv1’s. Redoing the chime wiring from v1 to v2 took most time. Once I created the 2 rules to restart the db’s daily, all good.
Thank you for your reply. Im going to try setting this rule up now. Fingers crossed it works. Thank you so much!
Same boat. Hating this. I’ll reset it and cloud and it might work for a day then goes days without recoeidnf anything no matter how much you up the sensitivity. Junk. Wish I kept my nest. It was slow but it recorded flawlessly
I just disconnected mine and returned it. I tried everything mentioned in this thread. Never once got a notification or camera recording in the daytime. I got a few vehicles and pet recordings overnight but thats it. Pretty useless. Ill follow this thread and maybe buy another if it gets fixed.
Yup still having issues here too. I have a V3 in front of my house and I can see every time my v2 fails to record motion. UPS guy walks up to the house v2 fails to record. Back out of my garage fails to record. Random light change at night it records great! Raccoon walks by at night it records great. Go figure…
How’s your weather here it gets up in the 90’s to 100’s during day.
I’m sure it’s hardware problem.
This isn’t a hardware problem. I had a perfectly good unit that immediately had problems when I updated the firmware to the latest. I know it’s not acceptable given how long this has been causing major issues but every single unit should still be under warranty…call wyze, get a free replacement and don’t upgrade the firmware. My un-upgraded replacement has been flawless. If you’re still in the return window and have an acceptable alternative doorbell, given the lack of support we’ve seen, I’d recommend returning it.
Thanks👍
It does get in the 90s here but as said above, it used to work with old firmware for most everyone here… I upgraded mine right out of the box so i never got it to work. I have a cam pro on the front area that picks up everything up to the porch and a flood light cam in the driveway that both work great. I believe it will get fixed eventually, but i wanted a refund until that occurs.
Is there anybody want to try and experiment on their version 2 that’s not receiving notifications? Format your SD card and turn off your chime if you have one hooked up so it says none.
The one that I was having troubles with, I have it hooked to is a transformer right now and not hooked up to any doorbell or anything and it’s been working very good. Just curious if anybody else can try see if they have any success. And I’m on version .9807 firmware
That’s not how it is supposed to function. So what is the outcome when the doorbell button is pressed? Only a chime at the doorbell not in the house? No chime at either location? Are you content with just getting the notification?
It was just an experiment to see if it would work !
Glad this is here and its not just me.
I get 0 notifications on the doorbell v2 and have tried resetting services and restarting camera.
Firmware .9807.
Also.have a SD card in set to record continuously. Reviewing it…nothing in the app for SD card…nothing to review, nothing to see, so that is fun.
Had an “event” with nothing to view.
I have many cams and sensors at home and at our cabin, and have been losing faith as things have been gettting more and more glitchy
@Hunts99 - this is obviously from the events tab or playback from the cams home tab screen? Did you try ejecting the sdcard, restarting the dbv2 and then reinserting it? Did you try to read the card on your computer? What shows when you click on manage sdcard option? Is it showing 0/0 for card usage? Looks like you have cam +(Unlimited) so are you getting video to view from the cloud? When something similar happened to me the sdcard wasn’t being recognized by the dbv2. Hope this elementary troubleshooting isn’t annoying you.
I have two new Doorbell V2 units, both don’t produce consistent door bell press notifications. It is obvious whatever they did in April’s firmware update broke things with these v2 doorbells. I upgraded to 9807 after they were installed and am wishing I didn’t. Hopefully Wyze actually acknowledges the notification issue and fixes it. Not getting notified for a door bell press defeats the purpose of the product. Also, I noticed if you mash the button, you can cause a denial of service on the device and prevent the mechanical chime/controller from working until the doorbell unit is rebooted. When I get time, I plan to do a full security assessment.
I find it astonishing that this has been a known MAJOR issue now for nearly 3 months and there is no resolution.
My V1 doorbell stopped recording events/sending notifications around April (probably a similar firmware update looking back now), so I thought it was the doorbell. I purchased a V2 last month and it worked for all of a day or so before it stopped recording events/sending notifications. I’ve tried everything and maybe get a notification 10% of the time, primarily at night.
This is not the only significant Wyze product issue I’ve had recently. I’m a long-time Wyze customer with MANY of their products. This V2 doorbell is likely my last Wyze purchase. It’s like they flipped a switch recently and just gave up on product quality so that they could destroy the company by chasing new subscription dollars. It’s so blatantly obvious.
@ja3523 - I purchased 2 dbv2’s when they were first available. Also replaced dbv1’s. Has some issues with connections, etc. Front worked better than back so I switched them. No improvement. Then I focused on the transformer because it worked ok for the v1’s. Upgraded transformer to a 24/40 unit and issues free ever since. Other forum users had success with a 16/30 transformer and a couple found solution to using a 16/10, Some also without installing the controllers, but not recommended.
Search the forum for dbv2 issues for something that might work for you. But I think you might find the quickest fix is the transformer upgrade, especially if 2 db’s and mechanical chime box.
Let me know a little about your setup, # of db’s and current transformer size.
I already replaced my transformer with a more powerful one before even installing the doorbells.
Maybe it’s the way I have my dbv2’s setup that’s not presenting issues for me in addition to being on Cam+. My AI person detections are announced from Google Home speaker after a ringing chime. DB presses are notified from Alexa echo speaker along with phone notifications and app video for AI events selected. No recording lapses. There is an issue with GH in that any movement detected in front of the doorbell triggers the ring and announcement. Pets on the porch will trigger. GH does no other notifications. I just prefer the GH ring and announcement despite the false animal detections. It at least triggers me to check the app for activity.
For some reason, I don’t get a lot of doorbell presses. People hear the you are being recorded from the doorbell and assume I am coming to the door.
I’m aware my solution doesn’t work for many. After all, I imagine Alexa and GH in the same house is still relatively uncommon.
