Wyze turned on all my cameras notifications

Anyone else? These notifications were all off.

I’ve seen it happen sometimes with a firmware or app update. Usually they remember to tell the updates to use the existing settings, but I have definitely seen the updates change them back to default settings again. That’s probably what happened to you if I had to guess. However, I have every camera model including several V4s, and this hasn’t happened to me recently. Maybe not for over a year. So I would expect if that was the cause, it would’ve happened to me now too. I’ll keep an eye out though.

Yes, same thing just happened to me. Cameras that had notifications disabled since install were suddenly sending event spam.

same thing happened to me - I have 10+ cameras, and ā€˜other motion’ notifications have been turning on out of the blue for the past few days. Not all my cameras have been hit yet but I suspect they eventually will unless we can figure out what is causing this. So far it has happened to v3 and telephoto cams.

I’m getting notifications that I’ve not only disabled but not even in the detection zone I’ve set. If I set one to just alert me about humans and pets, I get notifications that leaves are moving on a bush. Or the best ones are at night when every car that goes by I creates an alert there was a police car with flashing lights. Sometimes it also adds there was a huge crash and police have arrived. And usually totally outside the detection zone or something I did not care about nor selected it to report

Almost like they want to show off all this cool detail that is totally irrelevant.

I’ve since redone each of them… but still continues to alert for a reason not defined.

one thing to note: the detection zone will alert you to anything you have set to alert in the zone (such as person or vehicle) — BUT any motion anywhere in the camera view will cause an evaluation of your notification/detection settings in the zone, and if there is anything in the detection zone then that you requested an alert for (even a parked vehicle) - then that counts as an alert.

So - if there is a parked vehicle in the zone, and any motion at all happens outside the zone or in the zone, you will get a vehicle alert if you have requested vehicle alerts, Think of the detection zone as ā€œthe evaluation zoneā€ not the ā€œtrigger zoneā€. It sucks, but it is what it is for now (and for a long time now).

I have not updated any firmware recently. But I probably have updated the app on a couple of my Apple devices recently.

Thanks for that!! I started to realize some of that.

I get vehicle alerts even though I turned them off and only have human for alerts. I did find I had vehicles recording, so I turned that off also

I’ve noticed if I had vehicle warning on my drive way cam I would here about my car most of the evening when someone walked by and shut that down some time ago.

It seems that WYZE is pushing updates without user knowledge and is not letting us know what these updates are doing.

Now my WYZE OG cameras have entered the 5 min. cool down period. I have these in 4 different locations. They all started to this starting Dec 24. I’m on the unlimited plan. No firmware updates were seen around that time. Something is fishy with wize. None of my v4 or v3s were affected.

I normally only have Person Notifications turned on. A couple of weeks ago (about the time this thread started) I notice All Motion Event Notifications was on for all of my Cam v3 cameras. Been fine ever since I unchecked Notifications for All Motion Events.

I have been using v3 firmware version 4.36.14.3497 since June of 2025 and App version 2.50 since the summer of 2024 so this bug is not related to firmware or App version upgrades.
