Wyze Thermostat Problem - Heat and Air are mixed up using recommended wiring

This post helped me resolve my problem. I was looking at the heat pump letters and incorrectly labeled a wire OB. That caused my air conditioner to turn on when heat and cool running. I switched back to the W, and now everything works perfectly. Thank you so much for your post.

We have an electric Honeywell and I did what @goethe3 did and switched the wiring to the heat pump wiring that was on my original thermostat and mine works great now! In the picture below, you just follow the labeling circled in yellow under the wires that coordinates with the regular wiring circled in red. I also wrote in what each would be on the picture (ignore the wire jumpers I left in the thermostat when I took this picture, those are removed for this process). I am posting this because if I had this earlier I could’ve figured all of this out a lot quicker and saved a lot of time. Basically when they are saying go with the heat pump connection, they mean to use the labeling for heat pump on your old thermostat when you label the wires. Then follow the Wyze app for set up as usual! P.S. Your old thermostat back should be where you see ā€œHeat Pumpā€ written.

Well I have 4 wires at thermostat…y,g,r,w…gas furnace and separate a,/c…all worked fine with honeywell thermostat. As you can see in the control board picture the wiring seems odd to me…there is a red and yellow wire together and a red on it’s own…plus 2 whites…one on w and one in 24v …I had no C wire. Not sure how to wire in the adapter to this but I did find a blue unused wire that I added to the 25v terminal and to the thermostat side. The thermostat then activated fine. Only the A/c runs. I have no swap heat and cold option…help please!!

I was over thinking it. I just put the adapter wires to the single color terminals like Red to R etc and all is well!!

You left the red Y wire and the white Com wire where they are on the furnace board, I hope.

I can’t get mine either this sucks! Have it set up like everyone else, no swap of heat and cool avail.

Check out my comment above, maybe it will help!

Swap heat and cool should only be available in you have an O/B wire. it is a heat pump only setting.

Just fixed my issue. The swap hot/cold does not show up on the iPhone. Waze’s terrible customer service would not help. I had to log in on a relative’s android phone and the option finally appeared. This was the weirdest fix that I have ever found.

I need help ever since installing thermostat my bill went through the roof during winter. Today was a hot day so I turned on the ac it went from 73 up to 77 in 30 min when I had it set to cool. It blows out hot air when its set to cool or heat. And when set to heat the air isn’t all that warm takes a while. I installed it just like it said please someone help!!

That black wire is in there but its not labeled anything I originally kept it out. I just put it in Y2 but ut didn’t change anything.

You have a heat pump, Reset your thermostat by holding down the button until it asks you to reset, and remove from the app, and re- add.
Use the outside labels to tell wyze what wires you have.

Black: L (wyze doesn’t use this)
White: Aux
Right side, top to bottom:

Thank you i will try this. Just wonder how did you know I have a heat pump? I thought it was conventional since thats where the conventional arrows pointed.
Thanks again!!

The presence of an O/B wire indicates that it is a heat pump, generally.

How do i reset my thermostat the heat puts out cold air so only way to get heat is to run emergency heat and it has ran my bill dky high help please what can i do

show your wiring.

Hey guys.

I installed my wyze thermostat this summer on my heat pump. Cooling worked great. It got super cold outside and I noticed the heat wasnt keeping up like it should. While the heater was running, I walked outside and noticed the outside unit was not running. No fan, co compressor. But im still getting heat. Then i get my power bill. :flushed:

Here is how it is wired.

I appreciate any help!

And how it was originally wired.
