Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K

I recently purchased the Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K (directly from Wyze’s website), or so I thought I did…

The product I received seems to be the original model and not the 2K.

The box it arrived in (Wyze box) says “Wyze Solar Cam Pan” and then somebody has added a sticker that says “2K” on the box. The sticker uses the same background color as the box itself and the text uses the same text color as the rest of the box, so with a quick glance you wouldn’t notice that it’s a sticker.

This was my first red flag.

I checked and verified that I ordered the 2K version.

After this, I checked the specs on Wyze’s website to see what model number the 2K version is supposed to have, which is: WYZESCPWH3

The camera I received does NOT have this model number, instead it seems to haveMy physical camera does NOT have this model number, instead it has the old model number (WYZESCPWH) which I believe is the camera that was part of a recall?

I also added the camera to the Wyze app and checked the version.
According to Wyze’s website, the version number for the NEW Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K is supposed to be 1.1
My version is 1.0, which also makes me feel like I was sent the original (recalled) cam, disguised as a ‘new model’.

Can somebody tell me what’s going on here? Am I crazy? Because this seems shady AF.

As far as I know the only difference between the two versions is the instructions included (extra warnings not to use the wood screws on the camera itself). There isn’t a non-2K version of the solar cam pan.

They shouldn’t have sent the one with the old instructions but the hardware should be identical. Or perhaps they’ve inserted the new instructions/warning into some of the existing stock.

I have no clue, it’s possible they only updated the safety warnings, instructions etc. Just felt off when so many things were ‘wrong’ according to the information on the website and also in the app itself. :man_shrugging:

The only thing wrong is the “3” missing from the end, which most likely just denotes that it includes the new warnings in the instructions. There isn’t a non-2K version of the cam.

You can confirm by viewing the resolution of the live view video, should be able to toggle between 2K, HD, and 360P or something like that.
