Wyze Smoke/CO Detector

I hope Wyze comes out with something soon.

Nest is the best right now. Only one version since it was released 9 years ago

Actually V1 Nest Protect came out October 2013. V2 Nest Protect came out June 2015. Rumor is they have a V3 coming out this year or possible early 2023. There were some UL updates scheduled I think early this year (partially in effect already?).

UL Extends Certification Date for Multi-criteria Smoke Alarms | UL Solutions.

Just thought about this today. Surprised Wyze doesn’t have a smoke detector yet.

I wish Wyze had a way for us to rank wishlist items. I’ve voted for others’ wishlists just because I’ve thought it was a good idea, even though it’s not something I personally would ever want or need.

If I were ranking my ā€˜most needed’ wishlist, this smoke/co detector would be #1. If I was ranking my most wanted, probably the garage door gadget would get top ranking.

IT has already been stated in here a few times, but I am putting my 2 cents worth in here anyway. As a home owner, small business owner, husband and father, keeping my investments safe is my top priority. I have a lot invested in my home, my business and my family. I have slowly been building my Wyze home and Wyze small business security and monitoring systems piece by piece. So far , despite some of the quirks, bang for buck is top notch and I love the Wyze family of products, However, a critical missing piece to that puzzle and home safety capability of the Wyze family is indeed the smart co/smoke detector. This is not a want, This is an actual need for a strong well developed and affordable solution to personal home monitoring and safety concerns. As such, I too would not only love to see this come to fruition but also be one of the first to sign up for preorder. i would need 11 for my home and another 7 for my small business. When you friendly folks at Wyze decide to speak up about this, Just know my order is ready when y’all are.

The silence from Wyse is deafening on this subject.

I am very disappointed for integration not implemented between Wyze and Noonlight for notification of smoke detection alarm. The challenge for all us is that Noonlight generated certificate for insurance does not provide check for smoke/fire. This means insurance company may not give expected discount.

Question – Until Wyze comes out with solution, is there any smoke detector product like nest that is integrated with Noonlight we can use to get the discount.

I’m disappointed too. I contacted moonlight a while ago and they didn’t have any partner that offered fire or CO2 integration.

Please Wyze if you do a smoke/co detector, make it for the hearing impaired too!! Not just sending a notification to a phone like some do, but real options like flashing/pulsing lights. Also do not make it where it has to be hardwired. There is practically nothing on the market.

Another vote here for Smoke alarms that are centrally monitored.

Per Shortstuff’s request, AMEN on the smoke detectors for the hard of hearing!! We have smoke detectors in our home, but there is no way that I can hear them. The frequency of the signalling device is higher than my ears can hear. When I cannot hear them, it is like there are none here.

And another vote for a smoke\carbon monoxide detector. Hardwired or battery or both. Integrated into the HMS monitoring and with push notifications. Would buy it today if offered. Probably will buy another brand before Wyze develops one.

The lack of smoke/fire alarm is a very important need. Fire can destroy everything you own. Insurance companies give discounts for monitored security, and fire detection is required (at least by my insurance company)

I agree. Smoke CO detectors should be part of any home monitoring system. That Wyze does not offer one is concerning and detracts from their otherwise great product line.

That Wyze does not offer Smoke/CO detector, and more, that Wyze REFUSES to PLAN to offer S/CO integrated with HMS is a huge failure to offer critical home security system. Basically what Wyze currently offers can only be called HMS Lite. It is NOT a fully realized HMS system.

Wyze’s current decision tree for deciding which products to bring to market is very suspect.

From here, i plan to go to online retailers who resell HMS and offer reviews/comment to make it clear to potential buyers that S/CO detection is not only offered but that there is currently not even a plan to offer the service. It is a reasonable consumer expectation that the service would be part of a product that calls itself an HMS.

How do you know this? When it was first offered they started that they plan to add it.

Some here might not understand the differences between home monitoring and life safety, and how it impacts network design. The typical home monitoring traffic, such as monitoring temperatures, detecting wet floors, cameras and their alerts, controlling light bulbs, etc., is a fairly high traffic network, with very little liability if there is a communication failure. It will try again and maybe get through. Fire, smoke, and CO, on the other hand, are life safety functions. There is almost no traffic on the network, but each communication must be received with 100% reliability, because the liability is that your life is at stake. These are two totally different network designs.

In the commercial building market, for this reason, these systems are almost always separate. There can be some interactions, but the fire alarm system does its job, and the building control system does its job separately. There are a few cases where they are more tightly integrated, such as for high-rise smoke control and containment. These are required to meet UL-864 UUKL standards, and are pretty rarely implemented. The network has to be designed from the ground up to handle the high liability traffic - network supervision, redundancy, etc. It is not trivial, and cannot be added ad hoc, nor can it be done inexpensively.

If I were to give advice to Wyze, I’d advise them to partner with a company that is in that business, like Kidde or First Alert, and work out a notification exchange. Let the smoke detectors do their own job.

For what it is worth…

Hmm. I didn’t realize Wyze was marketing HMS to the commercial building market.

Very well said. Not that I think Wyze has any aspirations on Enterprise/Commercial market at this point, but that being said, these systems are of such a critical nature, it is NOT something that should be rushed. Also, keep in mind that the Wyze Home Monitoring seems to be going through some rebranding at present, suspect that’s why Home Depot slashed the prices on the starter kit to under $20 in some markets. All that being said, it’s still a product I would love to see Wyze bring to market, but this is one that I want extra time taken to make sure the integration and functionality is 110%. There is utterly zero room for the product to not work if AWS or other pieces of infrastructure go down.

Hi Eagle, The key indicator I’m using is that this thread is still in Wishlist. I’m concluding that when/if there’s an actual plan to offer a product that it moves from Wishlist to Roadmap. It does indicate that they’re researching, but all that means is that it is yet to be determined. That’s all.
