Yeah, I too dislike the steps we must go through when power goes out and the hub does not cycle back up on its on. So, I cheated. I opened it.
I said to myself, Self, why are you putting up with that. You know you can disconnect the internal battery and end all this. Don’t need back up anyway. Self answered. Yes, that’s right. So, fix it and let me know how it worked out.
And disconnected its internal battery. Now, it powers up, since it does not have a backup batter. Didn’t remove it, just unplugged it. Seven minutes which includes 5 trying to remember how to open it. Remove the pads on the bottom. They pop right back in later. Remove the four Phillips head screws. Use a wide flat blade to get enough space for the top to come off. Only one wire attached to the speaker hold it on anyway. And right next to the connector for speaker to board, is the power connector for the battery. Unplug and tug it out of the way. A minute to snap the top back on, and put the 4 little screws back. Plugged back in and 8 sensors are back online in a minute.
I think I have found “the cause” of this issue. The white charging block that the USB power cable plugs into can sometimes not provide a stable voltage of power causing the hub to go into a protective mode and go offline. I am testing this theory out in the morning and contacting wyze to confirm. While not all kits have a faulty block….some appear like they do.If you run into this issue, either try a different charging block or plug the USB cable into a power source without using the block. There are some powerstripa that allow you to do this thru USB ports on the strip itself.
Same here. Got it in December and today it just stopped working. The 3 lights went to 2, with the middle missing. And I noticed when unplugging it, it didn’t do its statement something like “on battery backup mode.” Won’t reconnect with all the various reset button holds. Now I did just notice this high frequency noise and kept walking around my office until I realized it was coming from the cord that it was attached to. Maybe I’ll let it die completely and try using a new cord/adapter and see if I can get it to set back up. So frustrating.
I am convinced that the charging block in my case was the issue as it has not given me any issue since I plugged the base directly into a charging strip that has USB inputs to plug into. My recommend if at all possible would be to get a charging strip that has USB plugs and use those instead of the charging block!
Do what I did. Unplug its battery backup. Solves the problem. Flip it over, remove the rubber feet. (You can put them back on too.) Remove the screws. Lift the cloth top off it. Unplug the battery connector. Put the top back on and screws back in. Then the feet. Takes about 6 minutes.
