Wyze Scale X – Can’t rename, can’t delete, and “CLR” reset doesn’t fix it

Hi everyone,

I’m running into a perplexing issue with my Wyze Scale X and hoping someone here (or Wyze staff) can point me in the right direction.

When I first set up the scale, I gave it a name that I’d now like to change. I assumed this would be simple since every other Wyze device I’ve used allows renaming—but I’m not seeing any option to rename the Scale X at all.

I tried doing a full reset by holding the unit button until it displays “CLR.” The reset appears to work, but the scale still reconnects to the same existing device entry in my account. When I try to add it as a new device, the app can’t find it, so I never get the chance to set it up fresh.

What’s more confusing is:

  • There’s no option to rename the device

  • There’s no option to delete or unbind it from my account

  • Resetting (CLR) doesn’t let me re-add it as a new device

So I’m basically stuck with a permanently assigned name and no way to change or remove the device.

This behavior is very different from other Wyze products, so I’m wondering:

  • Is the device name really permanent on Scale X?

  • Is there a way to fully unbind/remove it from my account?

  • Does Wyze support need to manually remove it on the backend?

Any help would be appreciated—just trying to get this back to a clean setup.

Thanks!

I just tested my Scale X successfully changing the name.

Make sure the scale’s batteries are good.
The scale communicates via Bluetooth so make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone/tablet.
Make sure the scale is online and connected to your app. You should see either “Connected” or “Not Connected” under the scale’s name at the top of the Scale X landing page.
If it is connected, tap the gear icon > Name > change your assigned name in the “Wyze Scale X Series” field > Save
If not connected, let us know so we can progress from there. Connection issues are usually one of the following:

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. When a sub user, a different member is selected I cannot make any adjustments. Didn’t know I had to change the user to make changes. Sorry to bother.

Excellent! Great to hear you figured out the issue and changed the name. :+1:
