The software capabilities of the mesh router pro are disappointing and appear to be very limited. The most obvious change should be the ability to add Wireguard or OpenVPN or another VPN with the software. In general, the entire software needs updating. Many features found on other routers do not exist. I bought it because I have liked all of Wyze devices I have bought over the years so I was hoping for a great product. While it seems to work, I actually haven’t tested it yet, compared its specs to other routers. Hopefully it has some power but unclear at the moment.
I can’t speak for the developers, but I’m guessing they want to keep the features of the router simple. Excessive tinkering could lead to problems that might require complicated tech support. I’ve had the Wyze Pro Router for almost 2 years. I performs well and allows for all of the settings I need. My access point/router from my ISP doesn’t allow me to turn off the WI-FI antenna probably for similar reasons.
