Wyze Doorbell v2 chime controller not working

I tried everything short of swapping the transformer as I have NO idea where it is. Tried every possible wiring combination with and without the controller. Tried the different chime settings. Finally gave up and bypassed the mechanical chime and setup my two inside cameras to work as bells. I live out in the sticks and it’s very rare to get any doorbell action. It’s more of a camera than a doorbell. Love the local storage option.

I noticed that you posted this elsewhere, so I left a more detailed response over there.:point_right:

I found it! On settings go to chime and select mechanical. That’s it! Took me hours!

I wired to Trans and Front directly. Chime on mechanical and it worked. No chime controller.

For what it’s worth, when I operated my Video Doorbell v2 without the standard Chime Controller installation, my home’s built-in mechanical chime worked but also made extra unpleasant rattling/humming sounds, and Support told me this is “normal”. (I didn’t like that answer, so I found my own solution, which I’ve documented elsewhere.) Reportedly Duo Cam Doorbell suffers a similar problem when wired without Chime Controller. Other Forum users have also reported success without the Chime Controller, though, so good luck!

I bypassed the chime controller and it worked.
I first followed the directions but my mechanical chime didn’t work (2 wires). I read on the forums how this was a common issue, i was ready to upgrade my transformer but i thought let me give it a try. Took out the controller and it worked. I had to do like 4 updates on it and when i was digging through the setting i changed my chime to mechanical.
This is my chime.

I wonder if you experienced the same thing I did at one point and if the wires connected to your chime’s FRONT and TRANS terminals are actually reversed. That turned out to be the main root of my problem, which I determined with thorough testing using a multimeter. Since I got the actual transformer wire going to TRANS (not FRONT, where it was before I started) and connected Chime Controller using the standard wiring guide, my Video Doorbell v2 has performed as expected.

If you experience buzzing, humming, or other extraneous noise from your chime at some point because you don’t have Chime Controller wired in, then feel free to let me know and I can try to assist with some troubleshooting.
