Hi everyone,
I’m having a couple of annoying issues with my Wyze Video Doorbell Duo (Firmware 1.0.24.37) and wanted to see if anyone else is dealing with this or knows a fix.
Just for context, the doorbell is hardwired at 24V.
Here is what’s happening:
-
MicroSD Card Issues: When I set it to record continuously, it saves the video, but the timeline doesn’t show any motion detection markers. I have to guess where the events are and manually scroll through everything. Even worse, if I switch the setting to “Events Only”, it just stops recording altogether—nothing gets saved to the card. I’ve already tried clearing the app cache and formatting the SD card, but it didn’t help.
-
Status Light Bug: The blue light ring around the button stays completely dead. I have the Status Light option toggled ON in the app, but it just won’t turn on.
Is anyone else experiencing these bugs on firmware 1.0.24.37? Any workarounds?
First, 24V may be too high. Measure the voltage, most of them put out 28 to 30V because they assume you’ll be running old thin wire a long distance. 24V is the top of the range recommended so if you’re getting higher than that, it could cause problems in the long run, may have even burned out the LED.
For #1 - The SD card is independent of tagging, that is set elsewhere. First go to event recording and make sure “motion” is toggled on (and sound if you want that). Then go under customize and make sure “tag” is checked off under the events you want (if you don’t have a subscription, your only options are “other motion” and “other sound”). If you have a subscription and are using “smart” detections, try changing it to all motion to see if it starts working. If it does, that would imply that your connection is having trouble uploading the images to Wyze for analysis in a timely fashion, which will prevent it from logging events (and recording to SD card in “event only” mode). If you want notifications, then check off “notify” too.
For #2, does it come on when the cam reboots or any other time? If it is totally dead, I’d suspect the voltage may have killed it. If it is within a year I’d say see if you can get a replacement, and drop that transformer down to 16 or 20V.
Thanks for the reply!
I just checked a few things based on what you said:
About the voltage, I actually measured it right where it connects to the doorbell, and it’s getting exactly 21.8V, so it’s safely within the normal range.
The Status Light behavior is really weird. If I completely cut the power and turn it back on, the LED ring actually lights up. But if I reboot the doorbell via the app, it turns off after the restart and stays dead. It only comes back on if I pull the power completely again, so the LED itself isn’t burned out—it feels like a software glitch.
As for the recordings and motion settings, I double-checked everything and “motion” is definitely toggled on with all the tags checked. But besides the timeline missing the event markers, I’m not even receiving notifications on my phone anymore. It’s like the doorbell completely stopped triggering any motion events at all, which is probably why the “Events Only” mode is completely empty.

The screenshots are helpful.
How do you have Detection Settings configured?
Thank you for sharing that.
My thoughts at this point:
- What happens if you try Settings ➜ Reset (Reset Services)? If you do that, then you’ll probably want to re-confirm that other settings are configured the way you want (Detection Settings, Event Recording, etc.).
- What happens if you do a factory reset and then re-add the device in the app?
- What has Wyze Support said when you contacted them?
I’d probably try Reset Services first, then a factory reset if that doesn’t resolve the issue. I might also consider a fresh app install (uninstall the app, reboot the mobile device, install the app, reboot the mobile device) since you mentioned…
Because you also mentioned that you’re no longer receiving notifications on the phone, I think I’d at least consider a fresh app install to try to rule that out as part of the problems you’re seeing. On Android I’d just blow away the app data and try that (to force the app to download a fresh copy of your profile from Wyze servers) before resorting to uninstall/re-install, but I’m not aware of a way to do that on iOS/iPadOS.
If you have other Wyze Cams, are they behaving as expected (generating notifications, etc.)? I’m trying to understand where to focus attention on this problem (whether it’s the device or something else), but I definitely think I’d start with Reset Services and then possibly a factory reset if you haven’t done those things.
Thanks again for the troubleshooting steps!
I tried what you suggested. I did the “Reset Services” and even went ahead with a full factory reset, but unfortunately, everything is still behaving exactly the same way.
I haven’t contacted Wyze Support yet because I wanted to check the community first to see if this was a known issue with a quick workaround.
To answer your question about other devices: yes, I have other few PAN v3 and Wyze Sense devices, and they are all working perfectly. They send notifications instantly and show the motion tags on the SD card timeline without any issues. It’s just the Doorbell Duo that’s acting up.
One quick question for you or anyone else with a Doorbell Duo: is the microSD timeline supposed to show those motion markers just like the other Wyze cams? I’m starting to wonder if this is a software bug specific to this model on this firmware, or if my unit is just defective.

I dig, and I also understand that dealing with official Support can be frustrating because the quality of responses can vary quite a bit, so the usefulness can feel hit or miss. I’m just unaware of a quick fix for what you’re describing, and if it turns out that the problem is with your device itself and that’s still covered by warranty, then only Wyze Support can offer to replace it for you.
Good to know. I think that helps to isolate this issue to the Duo Cam Doorbell.
I see those, yes, but I have to qualify my answer because I’m using a Cam Unlimited subscription. My Duo Cam Doorbell is wired to AC, so I’m doing continuous microSD recording, and I see the solid green timeline with event markers, but my event markers are for smart detection (Person, Pet, Package, etc.).
@WyzeDave Please, help me!
