So, I have a Wyze Cam V1 and V3 in my room. I use those cams for when I’m gone long periods from my room (like going to a sports game, work, or traveling for the day). Today when I was messing around with my Wyze app on my phone and was checking out the cams video feed, I noticed that those cams were detecting purplish light. At first, I thought my cams were having video software/hardware issues and I did some troubleshooting. Then I realized that it was my black curtains causing the issue when I moved them back to see the sun. (All was normal on the video feed on the Wyze app when I was looking at it. No purple.) I had my curtains closed in my room to block out the sun in my room. The cams were showing purplish light on my video feed which was weird and kinda cool. I did not have Night Mode or IR Vision on for either cam. Is that normal for the V1 and V3 Wyze Cams app video feed to show purplish light from closed black curtains blocking out the sun in a dark room? I will note that it was late afternoon to early evening when I was looking at this. I’m in no need of dire help because I figured it out on my own like a good boy, Lol. Just baffled by that purplish light on the video feed. That’s all! (Hope this all makes sense.)
Any video sensor can react differently from your eyes. Those curtains are likely allowing some infrared light through and since these cameras are designed to be sensitive to IR (for night mode) that would likely cause some odd coloration.
One of my cams has a window to the side and even with no curtain, when the sun hits from the side, the image has some purplish tint, I’m guessing from all the IR in sunlight.
Could be the IR filter getting stuck. Does it look like the picture in post #1 on this thread? Sometimes gently tapping the side of the camera will fix it.
Ah. Interesting. That makes sense. Maybe my cams were technology’s way of saying they were ready for MN Vikings football this season! Lol
I did look at the cams’ settings and the IR filters were off. The screen wasn’t fully purple, but the cams were capturing a purplish light coming from my black curtains when my room was dark. I will continue to keep looking in to that and monitoring it.
