Wyze Cam v3 Pro Firmware Beta Test 1/18/2023

More context about AI issue with V3P.

I have two V3P and both shows the issue. I am not using the latest beta firmware. Those two V3P are on 4.58.0.3210. My phone is a Pixel 4A. Everything was ok until Thursday march 23 (not certain).

I discovered that my V3P wasn’t detecting persons at my front door. At first I thought the camera was broken so I replaced it with my second V3P just to found that it did not fix the issue.

How to reproduce the issue :

  1. Install the V3P upside down.
  2. In the apps (advanced options) activate image 180 rotation.
  3. Use a detection zone. Let’s say 60% of the picture is highlighted.
  4. Put event recording at (Smart Detection Events) only, no sounds events.
  5. Put device notifications on and ensure person motion events is on.

And voilà, :blush:

Temporary fix is :

  1. Turn off zone detection.
  2. You may have to reorient yre V3P in order the reduce the false positives.

We believe we have found the resolution for the AI/v3 Pro issue. Thank you for your help. We will hopefully have the fix soon.

V3P upside down with AI and zone discovery on.
I can confirm it’s ok now, i walked to the camera and it pick me up. :slight_smile:

Perfect. Glad upside down is working as well

Will be home from work soon, so it’ll be perfect opportunity when I roll my car up and walk up the porch.

Life is good here - both v3p respects detection zones while activating PERSON and VEHICLE accordingly! Thanks to the Wyze team and of course @spamoni getting efficient attention to it.

I was just informed that Wyze AI Team wanted to pass on their appreciation for locating this issue and providing the logs and additional information as it helped them to locate the problem and correct it.

Glad we were able to pull together and provide enough logs and information to get this resolved.

Not fully but it was on the AI Server Side, which made it easier to fix without releasing an app or Firmware update.

Speculation only, but it could have been ignoring your selection in the DZ and treating it as everything was blanked out or all squares were selected. I believe some may have had DZ On but did not block out any of the image, basically being the same as having the DZ off. In this setup, I believe they were getting notifications.

But Not sure of exactly the cause. Just glad it was fixed relatively quickly.

Any guess as to when the rest of us should see this fix propagate? As of this writing my v3 Pro still does not record events with DZ and AI on.

FWIW my v3 Pro is mounted upside down also.

It does not require anything to install and should be immediate as it was server side.

Couple of questions:

  • What device are you using: iOS or Android
  • OS Version of the Device you are using
  • Wyze App Version you are using
  • What is the FW version of your V3P
  • Do you have Cam Plus, Cam Plus Lite, or Cam Protect

In addition can you provide the following:

  • A device Log when the issue occurs
  • A Copy of the Event Video showing your selected AI was tagged incorrectly / No Notification
  • Screen Shots of the following:
    • Detection Settings Screen
    • Detection Zone showing how things are selected
    • Event Recording Screen
    • Smart Detection Screen in Event Recording
    • Notification Screen

I will flip my Test Camera again and see if I can reproduce as well.

Should not require anything on your side, but you can try the Clear Cache in Account > App Settings and then restart your Phone or Tablet and Try again.

@joeman , I am receiving notifications and events recordings for person with my camera flipped. Can you please restart your camera and perform the Cache cleanup to see if this corrects your issue. In addition, it would be beneficial if you can provide the requested information.

Looks to be working and back to normal. Not sure if the cam restart did it as I had done that previously.
Regardless glad to see this fixed.

So while I’m here can someone explain why the OG cam does not have the “smart detection events” feature? :grin:
