Two “new-in-box” cameras were bricked by a firmware update. I purchased them and they sat for a long time (became out-of-warranty). The first time they powered normally and the app told me they needed a f/w update. After the update and restart…nothing. No lights at all. The power supply is fine. I can hear low-volume white noise from the speaker. The LED NEVER lights. The units are dead.
The factory reset process…no LED and no audio/message.
The firmware update process…no LED. (32GB microSD card containing the firmware inserted)
It is NOT a card issue nor a file issue. The f/w update bricked both cameras.
That’s for a manual firmware update and only works if you have the firmware on an sd card, in the camera.

Thank you for your post, WildBill. I neglected to mention that I did indeed have inserted a 32GB microSD card with the firmware.
- Powering up the camera…no light. Pressing the SETUP button…nothing.
- Card inserted and powering up the cam with the SETUP button held for 25 seconds…no light.
Two suggestions…first smaller sd card. The cameras like something smaller for firmware. You can format a smaller partition or use a smaller disk. Second, you did extract the file (whatever.bin) to the root and name it correctly, right?
This line in the instructions isn’t correct: “Ensure the unzipped folder is named “demo_wcv3.bin”.” It’s the file not the directory.
