I have 6 wyze cams, 5 of them are v3 and 1 is Pan v3, all latest firmware, all added to my Cam Plus Unlimited.
My Android Wyze app is running v3.1.5 (569), all cams are set to record ALL motion events (no smart detections). This has been my setting for a couple of years now. Since a couple of days ago though, the cloud recordings have been very short, sometimes cut off WHILE the motion is still happening. These events also behave the same way in the wyze web events viewer. There are some events that record fully, like 24 seconds, and playback the full 24 seconds. But some show in the preview thumbnail it shows as 1 minute 10 seconds, but if I play it back, it’s only 2 seconds. There are some that show 52 seconds, but playing it back shows only 10 seconds. Because of this I’m missing half or most of the motions in the recordings. Does this happen to anyone else?
log out of your application and log back in… Clear STORAGE AND CACHE after logging out of the app. See if that helps.
But it happens in the web app as well. does my Android app’s cache affect what’s in the web app?
That is odd… I will say. It shouldn’t.
Is it only 1 camera or all cameras?
It’s most apparent on high traffic cameras (2) where motions are longer than 15 seconds, but yes it happens on all cameras.
Uploads are primarily affected by your network. I’m not a big fan of the following, but you might try rebooting everything in the system. Reboot your main router/modem, any range extenders and finally the cameras.
You can run some speed tests to see what kind of performance you are getting.
Seems like it’s only me having this issue so I can narrow the issue down to my own network like you said.
Yeah I’ve restarted my all devices and router (TP-Link AX90 AX6600) and extenders (TP-Link RE605X and TP-Link RE550) in different orders, watched which camera connected to which router/extender and changed some router settings (channel width, channel, smart connect, etc). but maybe it’s just that my property layout makes wifi too spotty. i will look into replacing the extenders with a long range outdoor access point (TP-Link EAP650-outdoor). thank you
I will say as an I.T. guy… I DO NOT like Range Extenders. There is a huge drop in signal and increase in latency. This is a big deal with cameras (latency especially).
I highly suggest switching to a Mesh WiFi 6 compatible Network. Run Ethernet to the Access Points into a switch that Primary Access point is plugged into. That will allow all Access Points to have full bandwidth. This will DRAMATICALLY change your network experience.
Generally, I would agree with that but my simple AT&T extenders work great but you can’t extend an extender. All other extenders were junk.
Mesh is definitely an upgrade, especially for roaming devices.
I run both types of devices on two different networks. They are almost comparable for stationary devices.
Yeah I’d rather go with 1 or 2 long range APs (PoE from router). I don’t wanna get a new router (and I have to sell my extenders ). My router supports mesh, and the APs have mesh support as well. I see mesh as router + APs + fancy software so it’s not really the end-all-be-all. Plus, wired APs are still better than (or equal to) satellite nodes of a mesh. I will try with or without mesh support and see how roaming works. But yeah hopefully latency for the wyze cams get better.
