Wyze Cam OG problem

I installed a Wyze Cam OG in my garage, B4 installation I set up the camera to make sure it was working with my router, which it was. Once installed, the camera will not connect with the Asus router. I think it is out of range. Would a Wyze mesh router give me more reach, or would a WiFi extender booster/wifi repeater be a good answer?

I would first try moving the OG to another corner of your garage if possible. Also can you move the Asus router slightly while still keeping it in the same room?

I have a metal refrigerator between my router and my favorite spot on my back deck. Moving out of my favorite spot to another place on my deck will get me an adequate WiFi signal.

You don’t need a Wyze branded mesh, in fact I would avoid their networking stuff, it is not their specialty and they’re probably just re-labeling someone else’s product.

You can try getting a better router or even a mesh system (since you already have an Asus, you can add on another node using AIMesh), along with potentially moving the cam like @StevenA said. But you can also try a cheap extender from TP Link or similar. While normally I hate them, for a cam like this that doesn’t need a lot of bandwidth, it may get you the range you need. You’d want to locate it where the extender will have a decent signal from your main router, but also as close to the garage as possible. If you have a window that looks out at the garage, somewhere in that room (or even in the window) would be good.

Without knowing the construction of your house/garage or the layout, can’t say for sure, just something that is worth a try.

Thank you for your insight. I’ll try the extender, you suggested. :+1:
