I have a black Wyze Cam OG. Worked perfectly well, then suddenly stopped working one night approximately a month ago.
The camera is unresponsive but randomly shows up in the Favourites as online for a few seconds, but very infrequently. If I try opening the camera after the preview, it never connects and then fails to reconnect to view the preview and shows “Device Offline”.
I have tried:
-A different original power adapter
-A different original power cable
-A tested and working third party power adapter that works on other Wyze Cams
-Removed the SD card in case it had failed but there was no change, same result
-Tried to go through the setup process, but no lights flash and no voice prompt occurs
-Although no prompts or lights on the camera, I can start the setup process, but it fails in the end and does not add the camera
I am requesting the firmware so that I can manually flash the latest firmware via microsd card and would appreciate the assistance since the firmware versions are not available for download on the Release notes page.
Hoping to fix this soon as it’s been offline for a while now while I have been trying to fix it. So this is my last resort. Hopefully someone from Wyze or someone with the firmware, sees this and can assist.
What did Wyze say when you contacted them directly? As this is primarily a user-to-user support community but your intent seems to be to reach Wyze, then I’d be inclined to contact Wyze Support for an issue like this.
I think the troubleshooting you’ve attempted so far seems reasonable. I’d consider trying a few more things if you want to spend the time on it:
Temporarily move the camera closer to your Wi-Fi source. This helped me the last time I had to reconnect a Cam OG to my older router (before I changed to a different router).
Attempt a factory reset. I didn’t see that listed in the troubleshooting you’ve already done.
Consider temporarily disabling any 5 (and 6) GHz radios on your Wi-Fi so that your phone is forced onto the 2.4 GHz SSID. I haven’t ever had to do this with Cam OG, but it’s been helpful with some other IoT devices I’ve used.
The absence of any status light is troubling, so this camera may have just quit on you. If you don’t see any light during or after a factory reset, then the Cam may just be toast.
I understand wanting to try flashing the firmware, and I think that would be reasonable if Wyze offered that, but I’ve never seen any Cam OG firmware made available for download and flashing. In fact, I’m still interested in seeing if they’ll make flashable firmware downloads available for Cam Pan v4 and Solar Cam Pan.
