I have 7 Camera OG’s and 2 of them will not connect or reset. I can not get a “Ready to Connect” and have also tried the other trouble shooting procedures from website. No way to contact Wyze with out phoning. Seems a little dissapointing as most of these cams are less than a year old. With no connection I can not reload firm ware.
You can use the chat for live support during their posted hours. You can also tell the chatbot create ticket at any time to initiate an e-mail ticket with Wyze Support, even if human agents are unavailable at that time. I almost always do this when I decide to contact Support about something.
If you have failed cameras that are less than a year old, then I would definitely contact Support about that.
Tried a number of different adapters. There is a trouble shooting document on website that I have also tried exhaustively. SD card was also removed for connection.Wyze also suggests put camera face up to signal you wish to connect and re-boot.So far all for nothing. The last thing was took them to another location, different router and tried setup there but again no results.
The cameras are flashing red indicating it would like to connect but will not pair for connection.
Interesting that another camera is on same power feed location and no issues.
Great cams when they are working and I’d like to give them a chance but less than satisfied.
Where do you see that? Can you provide a link to a source? I don’t recall ever seeing this guidance, and I’m not sure what it means or why something like this would be advised.
When you see the blinking red status LED, are you attempting to add the device to the app at that time? I’ve had regular Cam OGs (not Cam OG Telephoto) get temperamental and require re-adding them in order to get them to connect. Often for me that just involves pressing the SETUP button[1] to put the Cam into pairing mode, then selecting in the Wyze app like I’m adding a new Cam OG. Once the Cam gets reconnected that way, I just abort the in-app setup, and the Cam becomes available to me with its original name and settings.
This is a simple press, not a press-and-hold as if I was doing a full factory reset, but that’s something else you could try. ↩︎
So when I did a search yesterday I came up with this on line and it has a Wyze symbol at bottom.Maybe AI is just making this up but here is what it said.
Troubleshooting “Face Up” / Setup Issues:
If the camera is not connecting or needs to be factory reset, the procedure is to turn the lens to face up:
Remove any microSD card.
With the camera powered on, rotate the lens to face up.
Hold the SETUP button for 10 seconds until the status light turns solid red.
Wait for the light to start flashing red, then proceed with the setup steps above.
Oh, okay. Based on that, my best guess is that someone has made this recommendation somewhere because the SETUP button is on the bottom of the Cam’s housing, so—depending on how the Cam is positioned or mounted—tilting the lens portion upward may make the button easier to see and press. Positioning the lens to a certain orientation should have no effect on the Cam’s ability to connect to Wi-Fi, as far as I’m aware.
