I replaced my V1 floodlight with a V2 last summer. All was working well until late last fall and unfortunately I’m 2000 km away.
It would occasionally go offline and then return online a couple of days later. As winter has set in, it goes offline more often. Every couple of days or so. Sometimes it’s offline for a couple of hours, Sometimes a couple of days. It’s essentially useless at this point. Signal strength is strong and I have 2 other Wyze camers that have not had a single issue throughout all of this.
Any searching that I’ve done has not come up with a resolution. Is there anything that I can try before I pitch it out?
Is the firmware up to date? I remember the previous version was problematic. But going offline, it sounds like a WiFi issue.
I’m assuming that the firmware is up to date, but one it comes back online, I will verify it. It’s about 10ft from a wifi point, so I’m pretty sure that wifi isn’t the problem. Unifi mesh system with good coverage of the property. Every other client on the network right now is showing excellent wifi connection, with many of those much further away
It almost appears to be temperature dependent. Temp right now by the camera is -12C. Temp is supposed to warm up in a few days, so I’ll keep an eye and see if it comes back online
Temp now -1C and the unit is back online. Firmware says it is up to date 4.53.3.9759. Signal strength reported as Excellent via the Unifi app
Putting these here for my logging
Went offline again at about -6C
Came back on at -2c
I have a flood v2 also going offline regularly. I haven’t considered temp as an issue, but it is -7c here today.
Wyze sent me a replacement cam, same issues. I actually put a Shelly smart switch in the outlet so I can easily reset it… The tiny Shelly manages to stay connected.
I’m going to reach out to cs again and see if they have any ideas.
I’m almost 100% sure that it’s temperature related. Goes off like clockwork around -5. The temperature that it comes back on varies with cloud cover. It gets late day sun, so on sunny days it will come back on around -5 or so, but if cloudy, it needs about -2 or -1. Twice now I’ve caught the output turning pink or purple as it reaches its temperature limit. Unfortunately I won’t be able to deal with it until April or May. I’ll be interested to hear if you reach a resolution with yours
