Wyze Cam can Detect Garage Door is Open/Closed

I received an email from Wyze. They have added the ability to inform us if our Garage Door is open or closed. Wow, cool.

Anyone else see this? Access is buried under several layers of settings.

I intended to buy 3-4 more cameras and gift them to neighbors so they could use this. These of course are people that have no cameras, and certainly no Wyze cameras, so it might induce them to buy more Wyze cams/products.

But, (yes, but) its its not clear if this camera must sign up to Cam Plus or Cam Plus Lite or any of those features. The email is not clear

@WyzeJasonJ, can you confirm for us? Does this require additional services, beyond simply installing and configuring it to work?

Yes. It is only for Cam Plus and above. They could’ve been more clear about it though. They did say it was only for subscribers, but didn’t specify whether CPLite was included (it’s not…it only includes person detections and no other AI detections). It just said:

There’s a new feature in town exclusively for subscribers. We have implemented AI Garage Door Detection on all Cam v3 Pro’s and Cam v4’s. Now your Cam can detect if your garage door is open.

I think from Wyze’s perspective, CPLite is basically deprecated and grandfathered and nothing they new they ever do will apply to CPLite. Now when they say subscription they are basically just referring to their active subscriptions of Cam Plus, Cam Unlimited, or Cam Unlimited Pro.

Thank you. The V4 is on sale at Amazon for $26. I bought 4 while waiting for an answer. I saw this (oops) as a chance to help some neighbor check their GD status. Now, I will have to apologize that they would be required to add CP+ to get the feature. Darn.

Incidentally, so far I’ve not gotten it to work on my existing V4 in my garage. Turned the Notifications on, added images. Nada. I guess I was just dreaming. Someone wake me up.
