There are 50 Deff kinds of switches. Even pennies a pop add up to real cost over 1,000,000s of units. Not to mention added shipping weight. Not saying guards aren’t awesome just a waste for Wyze to provide them.
OK I said I was done but I am going to add one more comment and then I am going to finish. At pennies a pop over 1 million units that comes to $20,000. I doubt that would even raise the cost of the camera. Now I am officially going to stop commenting on this subject. Again we will have to agree to disagree
Agreed. Let people get their own switch, and covers… in the event people even want them.
That’s exactly what I did. Taped them then got the magnetic ones.
Yes I use them too, look amazing, just not a logical solution to package with a budget bulb.
Agree to disagree. ![]()
It would be just another way for Wyze to set themselves apart. But let’s compromise. Wyze could sell them separately. You good with that?
Selling them separately is a better idea. For all of us that already have them or the people that don’t like the ones included it would be a lot of plastic just getting thrown away.
Then we’ve got a winner. Wyze can sell them separately and it will open up another revenue stream for them to make more money which will then allow them to make it even better products for us
Honestly, at scale, I doubt the cost would be more than a nickel per package. You’re talking about two tiny pieces of cheapo plastic. It’s basically packaging material. For some products, that amount of plastic would be the packaging.
Anyway, I don’t think it’s necessary for them to add it. Just something that would be nice to offer consumers. A way to add value without adding much cost.
It’s the same idea as the mounting plate included with the Wyze cams, which is unquestionably more expensive. I don’t use the mounting plates, personally, but I understand why they include them. It’s just a value-add. It probably only adds a few cents of cost for them, but it saves consumers a buck or two (and hassle) if they had to go to the hardware store and buy something similar on their own.
Exactly my point. Just something to set them apart from the competition
I’d be cool with a remote. We don’t really have a need for one with voice assistant control, but I wouldn’t be against it being supported. Philips Hue has this sort of option and even though we don’t use it I can see where others might so I’m cool with it. It can be, for those like yourself a good option to support as long as it is optional and not the primary control for those of us that have voice control, phones throughout the house, and/or good wifi connectivity.
I’d like a full color bulb so that I can use it for a “sunrise” effect to wake up in the mornings. I really hope one will be available soon. In the meantime, it would be nice to be able to mimic that with my current Wyze bulbs, but unfortunately the app does not seem to support a gradual wake up setting.
Make sure you vote at the top then. The more votes to better
I would think that you wouldn’t need a color bulb for that though. Wyze could set a timer function that allows the light to brighten over a set period of time. You can already set the brightness it’s just permanent. All that’s needed is a schedule rule.
@MJE Yes! We know our users like you need a feature like that. It’s been on our mind! In Q1 we are focusing on data security features. After that I’ll be working with the designers and software engineers on it!
FYI: I have been beta testing a RGB bulb from Govee. Works well in all aspects but not as bright as Phillips hue and software ok. Previous version cost about $8 each. Tough Chinese competition in the standard RGB bulb market. https://fccid.io/2AQA6-H6086
Color bulbs are great to set the mood and create ambiance… Especially around the holidays!
Plus with the sensors, the possibilities are endless… Want to trim down the other brands currently being used as they are sub par and unreliable…
Also would like higher wattage bulbs… 75, 100, etc. in white and color!
Personally I’m not big on colored bulbs but I know a lot of people are I would actually like to see the bulbs go just a tad bit dimmer for at night.
