Well, I took the chance, and tried this update.

Now I have no doorbell.

It failed to update, and now I get a blinking red light.

I took it down, took out the SD card, and held down setup button.

If you hold it long enough, it will go from a blinking light to no light at all, but it will never say “Ready to connect”.

Phone can’t find it if I try anyway.

Is there another way to hard reset it?

Plugging in power to the charging port does not make the light stay steady red, it continues to flash red. But the battery status light does go from red to blue.

I can’t send a log, because since I deleted it, there is no device to choose for what the log is for. So I sent a log file for the app if that will do any good.

Log ID: 2151519

App ver 3.10.0 (b744)

Don’t know if it will help, but while the ring light is blinking red, I can point it into and out of the dark, and you will hear the infra-red filter click on and off.
This will continue even while holding down the setup button, untill 15 seconds of holding it down, then the light will go off, and stay off untill you let go of the button, then it will start blinking red again.

The light will remain off for as long as you hold it down past 15 seconds, I tried for 75 seconds, and it still remained off, and comes back on as soon as you let go.

I also disconnected the chimes, that didn’t do any good iether, I believe this thing is bricked…

I tried the update and it bricked the devices. Can’t connect, can’t reset. Any suggestions?

Holy cow, are we really the alpha testers?!

Are you both on the beta app as well?

Does the beta app have anything to do with it?

Does no one actually test at the company before releasing to us?

I had taken all my devices off beta after the v4 messup, but decided to give this a try. Guess I was the first to actually try it on a real device…

I also put in a ticket and posted on the FB beta group.

Please tell us there is a secret handshake to get them fixed, or, go ahead and send us replacements.

This is what mine is doing. Blinking back and forth. (Took a video but it’s obviously to large of file)

I was on the beta app and left it in hopes it would give me a different update and it did not.

I have sent the logs up to the developers to look into. I am sorry for the frustration caused by this.

They can contact me because I’m willing to try anything as I leave for vacation out of the country in 2 days and REALLY need this working.

This release has been stopped while we look into the logs we have

Any word on a fix?

I just got an offer to replace mine.
Does that mean they have determined them un-fixable?
This is in regards to the ticket I put in on this subject (4731121)
I am just wanting to make sure the right hand knows what the left is doing

I haven’t gotten that offer and have been emailing with support most of the day

I just saw word that they are investigating, but I don’t have any more detail than that.

I also want to say that I appreciate those who have posted details about this within the community so that Wyze could halt this firmware release. Trying beta products is not without some risk, and I hope Wyze expresses some appreciation for your contributions.

Yes we take risk but they know that they are the ones that broke this thing. They say they are sending me another one but that it could be 3 to 5 days before they even ship it and then 5 to 7 days before I even get it. That is 12 days that I could be waiting on it when they could just order it from Amazon and have it here overnight. That is unacceptable.

Agreed. Amazon said 2 day with prime but much sooner and it sucks extra because I’m leaving the country for a week so I’ll have nothing and have packages that are delayed and likely be delivered while I’m gone so likely those will get stolen because they’ll be sitting there with nothing to keep an eye on them.

Hopefully they quickly determine if they are field repairable, if not provide some guidance to get them replaced.

I have 3 that still have the plastic on them I would like to use or get replaced.

We have a fix for the doorbell, it involves manually flashing. DM me here on the forum and I will arrange to get you the file and instructions.

Edit: If you have not tried to update and end up bricked you will not need this update. You only need this if your device bricked.
