The edit was made to say that if you tried updating and the device is bricked I will have to send you the files to fix it. If you did not update and your device works you will not need these files since we have already stopped the update and they can keep being used until a new firmware without the issue is released.
I can confirm these files will unbrick your doorbell when done correctly! Thanks again Jason!
Thank you, I got it back to working.
But before, when I first set it up, it was able to do continuous recording to the SD card because I have power supplying it with the wires.
Now, it says I cant do that when it is in battery mode.
But there doesn’t seem to be a way to set it to powered mode…
How do I do that?
Have you tried disconnecting the wiring and reconnecting that to see if the device recognizes the AC power source, or maybe cycling the breaker for your doorbell transformer to see if that does it? What about re-initiating in-app setup? I don’t recall if there was a step during setup that asked if I would be using battery or wired power, but those are things I’d consider trying if you haven’t already. I’d probably also do a Restart from the app to see if that helps things along at all.
Did the full setup, said I was replacing wired, mayI missed a small check somewhere for battery… can delete and retry again in an hr or so.
If that’s what the step says during the in-app setup, then I wouldn’t expect to see an additional check or step confirming that it’s wired, so I think you’re doing the right things so far. Does the Battery Video Doorbell “know” that it’s wired? Some other things you can check:
- Does the app show that it’s charging with the expected plug-over-battery icon in the upper-left corner of the live view pane on the doorbell’s main screen?
- If you navigate to Settings ➜ Chime, do you see My built-in house chime as one of the choices? I believe this option doesn’t appear if the doorbell is powered only by its battery. (I don’t see it when I look at a battery-powered Battery Video Doorbell, but I do see it when I check my wired Battery Video Doorbell.)
If the device itself doesn’t seem to recognize its power source, then I’d probably do this:
- Confirm that the breaker controlling power to the doorbell circuit is on.
- Confirm that the transformer has an adequate rating for the Battery Video Doorbell and test the transformer’s voltage.
- Disconnect Battery Video Doorbell from the wiring and test the voltage at that wiring location.
If that all looks good and trying the in-app Restart and Reset buttons don’t work, then I’d probably try a factory reset and fresh install.
