Wyze App 3.8 - Released 10/16/2025

Well, turning off “Enable Hardware Decoder” didn’t work for me either. my phone is android 10.

I’ve reset, restarted, deleted, factory reset my cameras to no avail.

I loaded the app on my tablet, logged in and get the same stuck screen.

I’ll try submitting a log for my cameras and see if that works.

Hmmm

I am trying to understand why it worked for me, and not for you guys

For the issue/error of

““ Loading Livestream ““

““Setting up a secure connection” problem

Once I turned off “Enable Hardware Decorder” all the V2’s and V3’s started working again, being able to live stream.

Very odd…..

In case some of you didn’t know… the app version to which this topic applies is not the most recent/current version. The current Wyze app version topic is here:

Thank You

Is there a way to obtain the update ?

other than Google Updates or redownloading the app?

It not yet avail under Google App Update

I guess I wil just have to wait until it shows up on Google Play App Updates

Oddly, they dont mention V2 cam in the patch notes, only V3, even though it affected the V2 cams I have too. OG cams it did not.

Thank you

:+1:

They don’t mention anything other than:

3.8.1.1 (October 20, 2025)

I found the solution to my issues with the app. The app would get stuck loading the live stream when selected. I restarted, reset, deleted and reinstalled the cameras and the app. The app is problem, it no longer functions on android 10. I bought a new phone with android 16 and now the app, the same app version works flawlessly.

Glad you were able to resolve it with the new phone.

Out of my curiousity,

Would any of your Wyze Cam’s have the “Enable Hardware Decorder” option

is the option turned ON or Off? for each camera that you experienced the Live Stream issue?

I have not found this to be the case. I’m running app v3.8.1.718 on Android 10.

I tried that too. “on” and “off”. no effect. I also tried my Amazon FireMax tablet, that didn’t work either. I tried two newer phones (2025 models) of my friends and the app worked as advertised.

There’s always one in the bunch. My phone was bought in 2019. so it had a six year old version of android 10. it hasn’t updated in quite a while.

I’ve been using my Motorola moto g7 since 2019, as well. It’s no longer my primary phone, but I use it daily for some things, and I’m glad it shipped with 64-bit Android so that it can continue running current versions of the Wyze app, at least so far.

I checked that also, the phone is 64 bit as well. Just one of the reasons I wasn’t suspecting my phone to be the issue. Possibly your phone received updates on the OS that my phone didn’t receive.

I’m responding to my own post at the beginning of this thread. I commented that finally friendly faces was getting some love as Wyze added a “family” automation trigger to some cameras in this release, including my front yard v3pro.

Background–

I’ve been dutifully maintaining “friendly faces” for the past 1 1/2 years?. Other than an occasional proper identification of a face I have found no value in the feature.

That has changed. With the advent of this Trigger I have been able to solve a somewhat vexing problem with notifications.

Bringing in the groceries!!

This typically generates some 25 notifications as my better half and I make 5 trips to the car–in the process triggering a notification from the driveway, front yard, doorbell, living room, and kitchen cameras. Unless I remember to turn off all notifications before hand, which I never remember.

Solution - - a simple automation as shown below:

And it works. I went from 25 notifications to a few from the doorbell (Wyze did not include the trigger).

IMHO this is the type of feature that can differentiate Wyze from the crowd. I don’t know who at Wyze is championing this but kudos and may your budget grow substantially.

Now for the next challenge. I would like our dog to become recognized and the 30 notifications she generates daily be reduced by a magnitude.

For the record I have the top tier pro feature. Samsung S24 Ultra, Android 16,app ver 3.8.7 725
