What’s new:
Installed on my Android device, Pixel 9 Pro. Things seem to be working except one issue:
I had the Wyze Notification sound #2 selected. I am no longer receiving any audible notification. I set it to #1 and #3 and neither provide the Wyze Default Sound for those options. Setting the Notification sound to System Default, works and provides the audible sound.
If additional information is needed, please let me know.
I’m not using the public beta currently, and maybe you’ve already tried this, but in my recent experience I’ve found that uninstalling and reinstalling the Wyze app has restored the selected “App provided sound” for me. I think other Forum users have reported similar experience in the past, but it’s something I haven’t actually tried until recently. I was un/re-installing for a different reason but noticed the restored “Wyze Sound 2” as a happy consequence.
I don’t think removing and installing the app should be necessary just to get that one thing to work, so I agree that it’s still a bug. Notification sound selection should survive an app update.
I will try that. However, that has never worked for me in the past.
I had never tried it until recently, and it’s possible that my experience was a fluke, but I finally allowed my primary phone to install the v3x app (whatever version was current at the time) as an update to the v2.50x app I had been using on that device because I wanted to have full control for my Bulb Cams on that phone and the older app didn’t have the plugins to support that. Then something else happened (I forget what) so I uninstalled and reinstalled and suddenly had the Wyze Sound working again.
So I just did what you said and found that the Wyze Sounds are now working again. Go figure. - Thanks for the Tip.
Also note: I now have this set of permissions which I have not seen on any other release
Have you seen this before? I am assuming the removal and then installing again made this available
Sure thing! Glad that helped!
I still think that seems buggy, and I don’t know if it’s a Wyze app thing or an Android thing, but the user’s selected settings should survive an in-place update, so I think it’s good to raise that as an issue.
I have not, but I’ve never enabled Health Connect and am currently using production app 3.6.6.683. I would guess that those permissions are related to Health Connect, but that’s just a guess.
I wonder if that would also help the CHIME to produce the correct sounds, as well… Worth a shot! Will let you all know what I find.
That wouldn’t be my expectation, but it can’t hurt to try. Good thought!
If that fixes your issue with Wi-Fi Chime, then that’s yet another area where Wyze should focus attention on preserving settings through app updates. I don’t know if generating a log would be helpful after deleting and then reinstalling the app, but that’s something else that probably couldn’t hurt.
nope, chime still playing wrong sounds
That’s a bummer that it didn’t resolve your Wi-Fi Chime problem, but I guess it’s still another data point.
Installed it and still having the old interface on all my V3s. Other than that I haven’t seen any issues with this version.
