Not for this problem. Wyze has locked their notification sound and it can’t be changed. Wyze dropped the ball on this one. However, this could be fixed in a day or two if they really want to.

Not on my Pixel 7 Pro. Wyze has locked the sound and it can’t be changed. Big failure.

Very well put. They came up with a solution that had no problem.

I’m glad you got it set how you want it

Yeah, just a touch cumbersome. Preciate y’all mavenfolk standing-by for inevitable $h1+storms… :+1:t2:

I was hoping for a break from unintuitive tech stuff today… loooong week of upgrades & migrations! :joy:

Long & short here is that, at least on certain Android phones, the Wyze app appears to create an add’l WyzeMessage category/class in the OS. That new instance (top-most on my phone) seems to be operative. Even though the original is still present, it seems defunct and superseded by the new instance.

Did you try @HDRock’s instructions? Worked for me (and I was desperate).

Yes, the Apple gestapo is the main reason I went w/Android in the first place. Plus expandable storage, access to the filesystem, etc.

I despise Google only slightly less…

Yeah The other one is for messages from wyze

You hafta choose it by name rather than using the “default notification sound/tone” variable. This will be specific to whichever tone you personally use as your default for everything else, of course.

That should dooya… :+1:t2:

Just answered ya above…

The instructions the Forum Moderator provided don’t work.

To be clear, this is what I see… 2x “WyzeMessage” and 1x “General”…

The top-most “WyzeMessage” is configurable & applicable to this issue. Anyone wanting their personal default (original) notification tone restored simply needs to expand the advanced section within to access notification sounds, etc., and choose that sound BY NAME from the list (and AWAY FROM “app provided sound”) within this context.

Whatever pre-existing option folks have at the top of the list (“default notification sound/tone”) is invalid and won’t be honored. The same tone can be used, but it must be specified by its locally available name… since, afterall, the whole point of this change is to allow customization of the Wyze notifcation tone. A separation from simply inheriting the default tone to make this choice available.

Glad you got it sorted out! I thought it odd too that Wyze introduced an entirely new WyzeMessage Notification Channel when they added this feature and named it exactly what the old one was named. Creating the situation where there is now a new one being used for all new notifications and an old one that is dormant creates way too much confusion for users.

Indubitably. Can’t fault folks for not divining the unintuitive. Took some digging!

As many here have already demonstrated, the WyzeMessage notification channel \ category (both of them) and the Sound setting associated to that channel, can be accessed in Android 12 and 13… even on the Pixel Pro7. Despite you assertion that Wyze has locked accessibility to this feature, it just isn’t true. This is an Android function, not a Wyze App function.

A very quick Google search revealed immediate results.

Plus crApple locks folks into their proprietary ecosystem in so many ways. Although their products are more reliable, they parallel Monkey$oft in technocrat overlord mentality.

Nevermind the fact that Android suppliers (Samsung, etc.) took their price-gouging / feature reduction cues from Apple almost like a mothership.

No thanks. End the duopoly stranglehold already.

I would absolutely love to see an open source OS take off and gain strength. In order to do this, someone would have to get the hardware manufacturers off the software manufacturer’s payroll.

I’ve contemplated this since you can install your own OS free of carrier crap&spy-ware. Ubuntu Touch comes to mind, but you can also install Android & others.

I’ve held off since… 1) my employer pays my bill, and 2) hoping Tesla will announce sumpin soon.
