Wyze app 2.39 , Cam v2 & Cam Pan Firmware Beta Test 1/19/2023

This is about Wyze app 2.39.
Wyze Cam v3, Firmware 4.36.9.139
iPad (5th Generation) iOS 16.2
iPhone 11 iOS 16.2

Just like @gyzmo reported, five cameras on two different WiFi networks, two different locations, randomly take longer to connect. Force closing the app or returning to previous screen connects them back. This issue was not present in 2.38.2

When viewing grouped cameras on iPad in landscape mode the app goes in lock screen mode. This issue was not present in 2.38.2. here is a link to a post where few people are reporting the issue:

Looks like Wyze listened and got rid of the white border around camera views in group view. However it introduced few new bugs:
The landscape group view on iPad superimposes the time/date on the left and WiFi/Battery indicator on the right portion of the top. See image below.

When selecting a single camera view from within a group view, hitting the back button takes you back to a single view (rotated) instead back in group view. This was not an issue in 2.38.2

Back button/arrow click:

Rotated single view:

Instead of group view like in 2.38.2

This adds unnecessary steps of clicking back, rotating the iPad and clicking again to go back to group view. Counter intuitive and counter productive.

One more thing, the Loading Live Stream indicator, IMHO is unnecessary large.

All in all, poorly designed interface.
For all the above reasons, I rolled back to 2.38.2 on my iPad. I left the 2.39 on my iPhone and I will further test and report back.

Update: Also the mute/speaker icon looks out of place where it is now in group view. It should be tucked a bit back and down.

The top row of icons on the home page of my iPhone got superimposed over iPhone’s icons. See below. I was able to take screen shot. After closing and reopening the app it was gone. Unable to reproduce it any longer. Just keep an eye.

No Sound in Live Feed

I just noticed this was happening when I changed the location of some cameras after replacing a couple with the new Pan V3-couldve been happening for longer, not sure.

I have my cameras grouped together in a couple groups. When I go to the individual camera page and click the speaker to unmute the sound, no sound is played on any cameras. However, if I just simply toggle the sound on the group page for the individual cameras, then the sound works. I’ve got no clue why it is functioning like that besides some sort of App Bug? Anybody else experiencing the same?

Pan v1 firmware: 4.10.9.1574
Pan v2 firmware: 4.49.1.47
Pan v3 firmware: 4.50.0.3405
Cam v3 firmware: 4.36.9.139
App is v2.39.0 (b170)

[Mod Note]: Topic merged to associated beta app topic for better visibility.

What are the steps involved in going back to an older version?

You have to become beta tester.

Not sure how much info was provided, so I apologize if this was explained already.

To become a beta tester go here and follow the directions:

This will allow you to get the Beta Apps when they are released. iOS is easier to switch between the Beta and prod apps as iOS uses Test Flight to distribute the applications. So basically, to get the Beta app you would go to test flight and install from there and to get the Prod app you will go to the App Store and install from there. When switching, you should uninstall the existing app.

If you want to test the Beta Firmware for devices, Start the app and go to the Account tab. Tap on About and select Beta Program. Accept the agreement, then select Edit at the top right and select which devices you would like beta FW for. Click save at the bottom and back out to the Account menu. Now click Firmware Update or open the device and select seting then Device Info. Note: Some devices you will not be able to roll the FW back. Most Cameas can be rolled back by downloading the FW to an SD Card and manually installing it.

Is anybody else running into issues with not getting sound when watching their live feeds?

2.39 App Beta, V2 Beta FW, or Pan Beta FW?

I am testing the Pan Beta FW and have audio from the cam in Live Stream.

Yo, @WyzeAndy, I don’t have any sound on my live feeds from any of my cameras in the app.

Using iPhone X, iOS 16.2 and app 2.29.0(b6), on the Monitoring screen I cannot close the
Device Online corrected sensor window by selecting the (X) in the top right corner. Also the five active security cam thumbnails on the Monitoring screen were blank. However, live feed from the five cams could be viewed by selecting the (More) text menu.

Clearing the cache, signing out of the account, and Force closing the app, did not fix the issue.

All My Event videos that are uploaded to the cloud playback choppy and skip around, if I Choose view playback and play it from the SD card, its fine. is this a known issue? its with all my cameras, Wyze floodlight, V2’s, V2 Pan,V3, V3 Pan, OG Standard. all of them…P.S. All the Cameras now record Audio when they are set not to, when I chose playback and turn the speaker on, all the audio that should not have been recorded is there. Edit: All Firmware and App version is current as of Todays date.

I had a similar problem with playback from the server until I upgraded my internet service from 7 Mbps to 100+ Mbps for 10 cams and 2 Home Monitoring Service hubs.

To me, that sounds like internet speed issue. Reboot your modem and see if it makes a difference.

The whole Wyze App in general on iOS 16.3 is running incredibly slow and laggy. A lot of crashes and force quitting. Multiple taps are required to open a camera group and scrolling is incredibly un-smooth.

I’m running Fiber, 1gig up and down, I have no other issues other than the Wyze cams… P,S, this happens no matter what I am watching it from, Home, Phone, or work, So unless every service provider is bad, it seems to be a Wyze issue to me. because my home internet does not store the cloud clips, as I stated I can watch “play back” from my 5G phone while away and it does not skip, its just the Cloud event clips that Wyze Stores. Edit: I do understand that my home internet is what uploads it to the cloud, But again there are no other issues and Wyze should not need anywhere close to ! Gig upload for these clips.

On very close review of multiple events of a walking person (I.e. a constant flow) from different cams, every event has one subtle stop/skip skip at the approximate 5 second point. It does not repeat for the rest of the event’s 12+ seconds playback. So it does seem to be a Wyze app or server issue.

Personally, I don’t know your network topology and I am not defending Wyze. Rebooting the modem has fixed stranger issues for me.
