When I was a service writer in an automotive repair shop, once in a while a customer would decline a repair based on what they paid for the vehicle. Most of the time they got it for a great price. âUncle Joe passed and I bought his 10 year old car with 40000 miles. Paid $2000 and your repair is half thatâ. It doesnât matter what the camera cost. I would sometimes get the sale after finding out the loan value of the vehicle. Once they realized they got a deal, they looked at the situation differently.
When determining the value of a vehicle, donât go by KBB. Call your bank and tell them what you are wanting to finance. Once they have the year, mileage, and approximate condition, they will tell you what they will loan for that vehicle. This is the most accurate.
Sorry for the tangent.
