‎WLPPO1-1 does not connect with Bluetooth

How do I connect this to Bluetooth?

Welcome to the Wyze User Community Forum @ba19661979! :raising_hand_man:

The only time the plug uses Bluetooth is during the Setup and install process. You will need to have the BT for your phone enabled when you install and the phone near the plug. After that, Bluetooth isn’t used.

Thank you for your response.
I also get a message Firmware Update Required before I can program the outlets. It is failing the update rendering the unit inoperable and useless. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I got that message too right after install. It goes straight to the Bulk Firmware Update page and just keeps showing the update button no matter how many times it is pressed. But, the plug actually did install the update and just isn’t refreshing the Firmware status page.

Close the App, unplug the plug, wait 30s, plug it back in, wait for the solid blue light, check the app. Mine showed the Firmware as up to date.

I tried doing exactly as you described but the update does not go through. I need to do a factory reset and start over. Is this done by holding down one of the power switches for at least 3 seconds?
I want this to work but so far it’s not working.
Thanks.

I believe the Factory Reset in the Wyze Plug Outdoor is a 5 second Press. Near the bottom:

Still have the same issues as before. Firmware needs updating but fails in doing so. Is there a way of stopping the updates from happening? It’s forcing the update before I can do anything to the plug. Very annoying.
Thanks,

The only suggestion I have is don’t open the plug in the app right now. Close the App, go to Account > Firmware Update, find the plug and keep clicking update to see if it will actually take it. Make sure you have a solid blue light on the plug, otherwise it isn’t online. It took mine 5 or 6 tries before I gave up and did the power cycle. After the power cycle, it showed as updated.

If that doesn’t work, contact support and get a support ticket started.

Part of my problem is that I don’t have a solid blue light. Once I figure out why this is not happening then maybe the plug will operate.

If you don’t have a solid blue light and it is blinking, it isn’t connected to the network.

If you did a Factory Reset, it has to be reinstalled.

There is no need for you to delete it from the app, just install it as if it was new.

Make sure your Bluetooth, GPS, and WiFi are on and your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz network.

After it installs, if it asks you to update the firmware, close the app.

Reopen the app but do not open the plug. Confirm you have a solid blue light on the plug.

Use the On\Off button for the plug in the Home Device List to test if the two installed Plugs are clicking on and off.

Go to the Account > Firmware Update page and try to update from there.

In addition to what SlabSlayer recommended, make sure you have Location enabled on your phone/tablet, Wyze app has location permission and set to Precise, and make sure VPN and Private DNS are disabled on your phone.

Is there no way for these to work off of 5GHz? Cause I don’t seem to have a 2.4GHz option.

Also after setup do they only work in a RFID outlet?
