Having installed a window cam, I cannot get it to record anything but automobiles and they are not even selected. Also, the autos are all outside the detection zone.
Have performed several factory resets, adjusted detection zones and settings. It only detects autos and trucks. No bicycles, no motorcycles.
From what I understand, any movement within your detection zone will trigger it. So, shadows or leaves. But it will tag anything it sees in the full video.
I have a window cam, and I really only use it to watch my window bird feeder, and I have a very arrow detection zone set up but it will still tag cars passing by, but what triggered it was a the sun or shadow hitting in the detection zone.
To pinpoint what is setting the camera off, turn on motion tagging so you can see the green box which will show where the motion was detected within your detection zone. You may have to turn the sensitivity down if it’s catching shadows or small movements.

I have the motion tagging on. My detection area is small. I only view my driveway and from an angle. The only thing selected to detect is persons. The street is not in the detection zone, yet it picks up every car driving on the street. It does not detect people. Sensitivity is at 50%.
I have several other Wyze cameras. None of them act like this.
On the Event Recording page to you have All Events or Smart Detections Events on? All Events will try to tag and event but if can’t figure out what it was then it will just tag it as motion. Smart Detections will only record and tag what it recognizes the motion is, you will get way less false recorded events with this setting, like moving leaves or shadows.
I have certain cameras set to Smart Detections or I’ll get tons of recorded events I’m not interested in with the All Events setting on. But the down side is that Smart Detections often misses things I wanted recorded. And the Detection Zone boxes just aren’t small enough to stop areas I don’t want recorded, so it will block off areas I do want recorded.
Another issue I have is a few years back Wyze reduced the camera detection sensitivity, so now a few of my cameras because of their placement won’t even see movement to record because they are too far for them.
