Wildlife not triggering events

Has anyone else had issues with wildlife no longer being detected as pets? I understand they aren’t pets but I used to be able to keep an eye on all of the wildlife around my house by using that filter and over the past few months, I’ll go days without any pets detected even though I see deer in the yard daily.

Maybe enough people have hit the button to tell wyze that wildlife was not a pet and their model has trained them out…

But we’ll see what others say, I don’t use mine for that purpose so can’t tell you if it has changed.

I haven’t ever seen deer in this neighborhood, but looking through events from the past day I see a bunch of Pet-tagged rabbit videos, and last week a Cam v4 recorded a fox in the backyard and tagged that as “Pet”.

I do think that Wyze’s AI model gets periodic revisions, so that could be a factor. A few months ago, a bunch of users (including me) were reporting a spate of “Gunshot” detections when we weren’t actually under fire (at least I hope not). Wyze apparently resolved that at some point. I know there have also been calls for expanded detection/identification capabilities so that every quadruped isn’t tagged as a “Pet”, so maybe they’re working on something like that, like better species differentiation. They announced Bird Detection for Battery Cam Pro with a recent app update, but reading through that topic it seems like that isn’t yet performing reliably. Perhaps after they get the kinks worked out of that they’ll refine the “Pet” thing even more. I’m really just speculating at this point, though.

Rabbit can be a pet, and I can see it not being able to differentiate between a fox and a dog. Not many have deer as pets though

Had one as a kid until someone stole it from the backyard hutch overnight. Apparently now I (and the rest of the neighborhood) have lots of “pets”…and some vulpine “animal control”, as well.

One thing to try is turn on Record All Motion Events if it currently not checked. At least for a couple of days to test and see if deer motion is being recorded to the Cloud and not tagged as Pet or not being recorded at all.

Same here, my cams have lots of rabbits and coyotes, and the occasional fox and owl.

Ditto on having one as a kid, but she wasn’t stolen, lived a long happy life outside in her hutch and big fenced in yard.

I have a greenbelt behind my house and many resident raccoons, squirrels, and coyotes, and we are also visited by hawks and owls. I used to see events capturing these animals but i don’t anymore. I’ve played with my detection settings but still not seeing the wildlife events. I’m not even capturing events of people in my yard. But I do see events with branches moving or car headlights driving by on a distant street.
What’s going on and how do I fix it?
(I’ve got the setting on to capture events with pets)
Thanks,
Janet

Post some screenshots of your camera settings…detection, recording, etc. Hard to help without knowing how you have things set.

I’m having a similar issue… I have 4 Wyze cam battery pros 3 are hooked up to solar panels… they did detect the wildlife, now they do not…

I am having the same issue with my OG camera. No Pet detections.

A question for each of you: what subscription do you have? CamPlus? CamPlus Unlimited?

About 30 minutes ago I got my first Pet Detection in a while. I have Cam Plus. I reformated my SD Card about 3 days ago, so can’t say when my last previous Pet Detection was.

I have been having another Cam Plus problem on my OG camera for several weeks, as documented here Cam Plus Live View Events are only 3 seconds, not the minimum 12 seconds - Services & Integrations - Wyze Forum

I have been communicating with Wyze customer support and they have not been able to fix/solve the 3 second Event videos problem. I thought the missing Pet Events might be related.

I suspect the issue may be with the Wyze servers, but no real proof. Most of the identifications are done there, not on the cameras.

I have cam unlimited

This seems to be a recurring problem:

I have all motion clicked and motion tagging on, and I’m getting nothing recorded… since it’s battery cam pro, I don’t have record continuously on… it uses the battery too fast…so this camera is useless, I’m trying to monitor my garden to see what’s exactly is munching on it, I wake up with no events triggered and squash and cucumber leaves eaten… these were working prior to the latest update… now NOTHING

My OG is missing almost all of the local cats/animals that pass within 10 feet of my camera in my front yard. The animals used to show up in my Events, but no longer. Something has really changed for the worse in Pet detection. Really sucks.

Here are two screen shots of cats passing by the camera that were not flagged.
In the past these would always be flagged as a Pet Event.

I’m having the same issue… they updated and now the cameras are useless for what I got them for

No problem with PET for me. V3, V4, V3 PRO, WCO cams all with current firmware, using iOS app.

Scared possum as a bonus.
