Pet/Animal Detection

With the successful launch of people detection and vehicles, the next logical step is pet detection. Since I mainly use my cameras to check on my fur buddies,

Could you please elaborate on how you would like the “pet detection” to work? How does normal motion tagging and detection not work for you as it currently is implemented? This will help Wyze understand your request better.

We need pet detection as well. Using notifications is fine when we are on vacation but when we are home it’s a pain, since it’s telling us we are moving as well. My work schedule is very irregular so we can’t use scheduling. Being able to switch on pet detection is the better way. Better still would be for it to not notify us if it detects a pet and a person at the same time. Then we would only receive pet notifications when we are away or in a different room which is fine.

Would be great if person detection could also includes animals. This would be useful to myself and others for pet monitoring as well as for outdoor wildlife notifications - but would still get rid of the “bug” notifications.

Bt what if our pets ARE bugs?

As long as there is an option to choose yes or no. I don’t need to watch my neighbors cat walk across my driveway every hour or so. The cat is not a threat and has my permission to be in my yard.

As for the notification, may I know why do you want to be notified when the cam detect your pet?

My understanding of the need is to make sure everything is ok with your pet, and your pet behaves well. Did I miss something here?

That way we can get an alert and try to scare away the dog with sprinklers before it poops on your lawn.

They do make sprinklers for that but it is not pet selective.

Please add A.I. for packages and pets on Wyze cameras.

Wyze I know you have so many other Products and Services you are working on but… when you have some time maybe you could consider Pet/Animal detection?

I purchased the camera to check in on my pets because one of them is peeing on the couch.
I would like to be able to create a rule to have motion detection for pets/all motion minus person detection.

We have a cabin at Lake Tahoe and would like to know if a bear is detected.

There are a lot of other animal detection options you could add, but bears is our main concern now.

I have friends who would like to detect birds coming to their birdbath, humming birds to their feeder. Bats.

Some might want smaller animals. e.g. skunks, but then if you are going by size you might need to exclude dogs and cats.

Pricier than Wyze cams, but you may wish to research cellular trail/game cameras.

I forget the models offhand, but have seen some that will distinguish between bear, deer, etc and only send you instant alerts for the ones you are concerned about.

Since many of us have cams either outside or pointed out windows I thought it would be neat to see person detection expanded to include tagging vehicles and/or pets. I got the idea from TinyCam Pro which can tag these type of things but must be running on an android device. Since you are already processing events in the cloud it would really only require tweaking the models and training them. I feel like this would be a big value add to the person detection/cam plus service. For example getting a notification when a vehicle pulls up to your driveway or knowing when your pet is loose and running around inside/outside your house. This might be extra helpful for outdoor cams as if a vehicle triggers a motion event but not a person notification some people may miss out on being notified that a package is delivered due to timeout settings, however if they are alerted of a vehicle in the detection zone then they will know someone was there. Just an idea

My main purpose with Wyze was to make it a cat cam for letting me know when my 5 (at the time) cats wanted to come inside. Pet detect would be awesome for multiple reasons. But the best reason for me rn would be to find my missing pet. :frowning:
My cat has been missing since September 6th, this year :frowning: With my cam running 24/7 I wasn’t able to find if and when the last time he came home to try and get inside due to hundreds of “motion” or “person” videos to go through and not enough time for it. .

If there was a pet-detect AI option, I would hope that I could get specific notifications for my pets such as:
“Pet let out @ 8am,/ pet let in @ 8pm,”
“Pets left outside/ pet has been waiting outside X amount of time at front door cam”
“Pet not detected for 8 hours”
“Check on your pet”

The Notification possibilities are endless.

And then the obvi reason for me right now and that would be the review/search/detect process. Like only alert me when my pet is detected, or record pet video, delete/save all videos with/without a person, pet or vehicle.
To go a step further a “Lost/Found” pet mode would be great, and a programmable/smart pet door & tracking collar would be fire!

Honestly, I can think of dozens of reasons/ideas why/how a pet detect system would be a major selling point with endless $$$ earning opportunities. (with pets being a multi-billion $$$ industry n all.) :boom::grin:

Now that has a nice ring to it! Put me on the waitlist please!

Someone on the Facebook beta group today posted a screenshot of a “Pet detected” notification that they got for pets and looks like some other people did too. Maybe this might change to “researching”? :eyes:

Some people also saw “car detected” recently too in the group…
