I have used Browning and Moultrie Trail Cams for many years to capture wild animals on my property day and night. There are Cell Cameras but only one new model Wi-Fi Camera. I was thinking that Wyze could develop a small form factor wi-fi connected outdoor trail/game camera.
Considerations would be all weather conditions most importantly cold weather tolerable.
Confidant Waze could develop an excellent product in this niche.
You can toss this in the “wishlist” forum, you never know what will trigger someone at wyze to think “hey that might be a good seller”. However there are already products like that on the market from long established manufacturers so that might be something that discourages other companies to try and break in.
That being said, the cams themselves are already cold and rain tolerant. A USB battery bank (in a weather proof box) and potentially a solar panel along with a Wyze cam might give you what you’re looking for. The Battery Cam Pro with solar panel might too, if there is enough sun in the area to keep it charged.
But realistically, the reason trail cams can last so long on a battery is they have a very low frame rate and are mostly targeted at grabbing still frames, so any of these 20-30FPS cams are going to use a lot more battery.
Thanks for the reply. I should have added that even though I bought top rated trail cams both started to fail after three years. Will head over to wishlist forum.
Please be aware of at least a couple of things when you do that. For one, at your current level (at the time of this writing), you can’t actually submit a new Wishlist request:
That whole post is worth a quick read, but I wanted to point that out. Getting to TL1 doesn’t take much effort.
The other thing is that there’s at least one existing Wishlist topic requesting a trail camera, but it’s mostly about dealing with a request for a device with a cellular mobile connection:
As with any Wishlist topic, you can visit that one to click or tap the Vote button above the initial post and share your ideas and use cases in the comments to show your support for the product and feature request/suggestions that are important to you.
There are so many requests out there that even when an existing topic for an idea does exist it’s not always easy to find or apparent from the title.
