Why I’ve now stopped buying wyze cameras

First camera was back in 2018 or so. Over the years the software/firmware has become a nightmare. Maybe it’s more the hardware I don’t know. But at this point I have several cameras that refuse to connect. Below is one. I’ve unplugged, reset, and completely reset to factory and they won’t connect. They were working fine. Then one day several just won’t connect anymore. Next camera sadly won’t be a wyze cam. Even if I have to deal with higher subscriptions and initial costs at least I will be with a company that has actual support and might just have better firmware writers.
I dealt with the pan v3 firmware debacle and I just don’t have the stamina to deal with another here.

If multiple cams suddenly stopped working at once, you should be checking if your router got a firmware (or IP blacklist/security definition) update or anything changed with your ISP.

It is possible a power surge damaged multiple cams, but less likely than the above, and if it did, it probably damaged the wall plugs and not the cams themselves.

Not sure which Pan v3 firmware debacle you’re referring to? There was an app issue where sometimes it would give an incorrect “cannot play back from SD card” but not aware of any firmware problems in the couple years I’ve had mine.

Totally understand your frustration—firmware and connectivity issues can really kill the experience, especially when you’ve invested in multiple devices over time. Thanks for sharing your story—it helps others weigh the long-term reliability, not just the upfront cost.

I’ve noticed that Wyze sometimes pushes updates that fix one issue but create another. For anyone still troubleshooting, sometimes manually flashing older firmware from their support site can bring a cam back to life (not ideal, but has worked for some). Also agree on the support side—having a responsive team makes all the difference when things go sideways.

Hope your next setup gives you a more stable experience—reliability should come standard, not as a premium feature.

Could it bem, your router, automatically updated itself ( common with router vendors) and it changed router settings/security settings? Cauing your Wyze Cams to not connect

Honestly researching it seems it’s all the same. Unless you go wired. I guess I’ll just stick around and deal with it. For example on this camera it also has the garage door module. So when it doesn’t work I can’t use it to open the garage. The camera started working overnight we will see how long it stays up.

Well it lasted about 5 hours. Camera is offline again.

Reset v3 camera and only lasted 5 minutes offline again. Connected to a different WiFi that was closer. My pan cam v3 is on the same WiFi extender and is fine. Both cameras are within 10 feet of each other and this v3 cam is closer to WiFi within 5 feet.
