I have been subscribing to Cam Plus Lite since it originally started as Person Detection. I was considering cancelling since the person detection feature isn’t that meaningful to me any more. In reading how they currently describe Cam Plus Lite, its features include the original person detection, but also listed are the 12 second event recordings and 14 day cloud storage. Does this mean I would lose all of that if I cancel, or just the person detection (which is what the original payment plan was for)?
Thanks for pointing this out! (Why didn’t I think of it, doh.)
I did this for a single camera several days ago. Besides obviously losing the person detection, the only other thing I seem to lose is the 12 second clip in the cloud, so I just see a still frame for each event. It still keeps 14 days of events, and until they age out, the 12 second clips from earlier events are still available. I can also still playback video through the app from the SD card, which I had been concerned about losing. The 12 second cloud clips have been very buggy/glitchy for well over a year, so it’s not a big loss. (Currently the clip only plays for about the first 4 seconds, then skips to the end and back. A while ago they would play for a few seconds, skip 5-6 seconds, then play the remainder.) This and other poor and buggy software, and hardware failures, have started me replacing some of my Wyze cameras and sensors with others that are also Apple Home compatible.
Yes, I’ve been paying since they first started the service. It’s not a large amount, but since I’m starting to shift away from Wyze, I will be dropping it at some point. It’s just too buggy and poor performance.
After operating with a couple of cameras off as you suggested, it looks like I will continue paying for a while longer until I replace more of the Wyze cameras. I share all of the cameras with my wife, but I realized that if I turn off the clips in the cloud option, all she can see is the thumbnail snapshot. That’s less of a problem for me as I can always play back from the SD cards in the cameras using the app. Unfortunately Wyze only lets the camera owner do that, not anyone who it was shared with.
I currently have Eufy C120 cameras operating with Apple Home that have replaced three Wyze cameras. I will probably try some other brands/models soon.
I log my wife into the Wyze App with my credentials. I do ask her to please not change any settings or update camera firmware. She can view SD card playback the same as I do.
