What happened to PIP on my V4?

When I bought it, I didn’t have it. Read it would eventually happen. It was a matter of time and patience.

Last week after an update I had it in all my devices, including cellphones. My wife was super excited.

Today it’s gone from my cellphones, only my tablets have it.

Why?

The OG cameras are the only ones with PIP.

Wyze has added a new PiP feature to some camera models since then, but it is a different PiP feature than that used for the OG. I use this with BCPro and FLPro sometimes. I forgot that the V3Pro supports it too, but it does. This PiP feature allows you to have the Camera live stream float over OTHER APPS, and not just when you stay on the app live stream. It’s pretty cool. Works great as a baby monitor, etc too.

Here’s the support article about it:

The question is why all my devices had it, and now not all of them. I have 2 tablets. Same model. Only one keeps being able to do PIP.

I just checked mine on Android with both a phone and a tablet and I don’t see it on either my phone or my tablet. However, I am using the new Beta App v3.0.

I’m sure it will come back soon.

The bright side is that this probably means that it is a server side change for the app which doesn’t require a whole new app update. So they were probably testing it out and then removed it and will bring it back again later. The one that still has it is probably due to the cache not refreshing.

I think you may be confusing PIP with Smart Focus. When Smart Focus is enabled and motion is detected, the view will appear as a 2nd zoomed in window that automatically follows the motion/subject and you can swap between normal view or zoomed in/tracking views. If this feature is what you are referring to, tap the Smart Focus icon under the live view. If it doesn’t turn green (On), go to Wyze app Home > Account > App Settings > Enable Hardware Decoder. Toggle the setting the opposite of your current setting.

Nope, I’m talking about PIP.

Sorry, I’ve never seen PIP in the Wyze app for my v4 cams on any Android tablet or phone.

Well, I just showed evidence of why I started thread.

I also had this feature in my and my wife’s Samsung Galaxy S23+ for about a week.

Right now, for reasons I don’t understand: One Samsung Tab A9 tablet has it and the other one lost this feature.

I have S9+ thru S24U and Tab A7 through A9 running production and beta app versions. I haven’t seen it available for v4 yet, but sure could use it. :+1:

That was what I thought. Guess I may find out on Tuesday when my v4 arrives. But then maybe it won’t be there.

I will try on my S24 and A9+.

So was doing some testing. Pip works for me on my v4, when using beta version. However if I switch to the 2.5 version it doesn’t.

Not sure if you want to try, but maybe sign up for the beta version to see if it works on that version.

My V4 has never had it, but my V3 Pro does. iOS app.

I setup my v4 earlier today.

I could not find PIP, but I did find Smart Focus.

No PIP for you because you are not using the Beta app. It probably works just like the V3 Pro does now with a production app.

I am using the beta and no PIP on mine either.

The screen shot above looks like a V3 Pro to me? I have no idea.

Judging by the icon of the camera and the interface, you might be right.

Not a game changer either way. Probably wouldn’t use it more than once.
